“Breathtaking Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

Having been to the museum a few years ago, and seeing it after the renovation, the difference is truly amazing. The atrium itself is spectacular and a sight to see.

The museum is extremely well laid out with maps and brochures telling you where the major exhibits are. Audio tours are also available. Be prepared to walk.

Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer are some of the greats on display. The Night Watch is on display in the Hall of Fame and is the center of attraction with large crowds around the painting. Placards are available which tell you the finer details of the night watch.

The museum has taken the unusual step of making some 125,000 high-resolution images available for download via its Rijks Studio software, with plans to add another 40,000 images per year until the entire collection of one million works is available,

This is an absolute must do when visiting Amsterdam.

“wonderful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

The exhibits are wonderful. You need a lot of time to spend here, so you should save several hours for this museum alone-Maybe the day! My teenaged son, not an art lover, found it boring & pointed out to me that the average age at the museum was 65, so he was out of place there.

“Worth the wait”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

We visited this museum during New Year holiday season. As the museum was closed for renovation for many years it is rather crowded with foreign but also Dutch tourists who want also a glimpse of Rembrandt. It is a large museum so if you're visiting with children it is good to choose what you really want to see. We enjoyed especially the gallery where you will find The Night Watch and other masterpieces from the same period like The Milkmaid of Vermeer.
You can book tickets in advance and I would recommend it. When we were there there was a long line on both sides (pre-booked and without ticket). The pre-booked line moves like 3 times faster. Our line started down the road just 5 meters around the corner and took us a good hour.

“Too big”

Very big to do everything. Would recommend choosing a few specific items that interest you, finding them, and then moving on. Very long queues after 10am. No queue jumping for holland pass.

“Since the architecture of the building to the exhibitions. A must”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

Booked the tickets online although it wasn't necessary because it wasn't that crowded at the time, the multimedia tour was very helpful because it took you through the main exhibits in a carefully selected walk through you can choose in the device. The Dutch painters exhibition was great as well as the Asian Pavillion. Time was insufficient and deserves the whole day for a visit
