What it says on the tin, a repository of the talent, creativity and energy of the Dutch people - works of amazing beauty and some of mediocrity that tell a story, in a wonderfully remodelled setting

A beautiful newly renovated museum. We just walked through most of the second floor, mostly to see the Dutch Masters, and we were captivated!

Very beautifull and nice exposed paintings and artefacts.
You can download a free app to understand more about the things you see in the museum.
Inside the museum there are information cards available wich are very interesting to read while you enjoy the masterpieces.

The only negative thing I can say is that the toilet was not as clean as I would expect from a museum like this.

The variety was excellant(armor, ships models, weapons, pictures, furniture- anything dutch). The Rembrandts were exceptional, but the layout of floors was somewhat confusing. You could spend a lot of time there, and it is probably the best in Amsterdam

I never saw the Rijks before its extensive renovation, but it is just beautifully done in keeping with its original style and "flavor". The main hall that contains "The Nightwatch" is so well done with a nice selection of Dutch Old Masters. It gives you a good overview of some of the top artists, without being so overwhelming like many art museums. After visiting this main gallery, you can visit other selected areas, as your tastes and energy dictate.
