Obviously, the architects who designed the recently-rennovated building are men.

Who else would plan five floors of treasures
(80 galleries and overall surface area: almost 30.000m2)

with bathrooms--- like an afterthought--- only on the first floor?

A fantastic collection in a very well appointed building, from Rembrandt to modern art. A MUST if you're in Amsterdam even for one day.

TIPS:
- Buy the tickets on the internet. This way you bypass the line to the ticket counter.
- Sign up for a guided tour (also on the internet - only 5 Euro extra). Helps you bypass the line once you're inside (the one that everybody is complaining about).
- Arrive early. We went at 9:15 on a Saturday morning, and there were no lines at all - neither for the tickets, nor for the entrance. They were quite long when we were leaving around 1 PM, though.
- Do not take your backpack or expensive umbrella, as you'll be asked to check them (another line). Ladies handbags are allowed.
- Have a good meal before you go. The cafeteria is good, but the wait is long.
- If you come early, run to the Night Watch first - then this hall becomes overcrowded.
- If you arrive very early, spend a few minutes to take a picture in front of the IAMsterdam sign, afterwards it’ll be swarming with tourists and kids.

A great collection of a variety of art ranging from paintings, sculputres, to collection of armor/weapons. I wish I had half a day or full day to really explore this large museum. The Rembrandt paintings were really breathtaking in their detail and scale.

The upgrade took a long time, and the result is mainly wonderful. Unfortunately they got a little unconcerned with the English version of the descriptions. So much detail, and little regard for proofreading. The Amsterdam Museum and the Van Gogh Museum were careful with everything.
