Two for Joy is a classic third-wave coffee roaster. They roast their own beans, have unique presses like the siphon and love to chat about coffee and all its accoutrements. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and since this is The Netherlands, their milk and foam were outstanding. Unfortunately, their beans and the coffee that came from it were not the best. Also, it is much more expensive than an Illy and not necessarily better. So if you are in the mood for a fun coffee experience and like freshly roasted beans, give Two for Joy a try but remember with such delicious milk in Amsterdam, there are many other cups to try.

Two For Joy was just next door to a flat we rented in the Frederiksplein area. What a great convenience.

Although prices are higher than what we'd like to pay, the quality was always high, and the people friendly and helpful!

My feet were weary from a long morning of site seeing in Amsterdam when we spotted Two for Joy—and I am so glad that we did. We decided to stop in to rest our feet, get some coffee and a snack before we headed off to more sightseeing. I ordered a hazelnut macchiato latte and a brownie and my husband got an espresso and the rosemary chocolate-chip cake. The coffee was amazing and the brownie was possibly the best I have ever had. The rosemary cake was interesting, but I wouldn’t order it again.

The atmosphere was really nice. We were reading a book together on the trip and we were able to hear each other read a few chapters out loud without disturbing anyone around us. The room was filled with comfortable chairs and couches, perfect for resting our feet, and the service was prompt and friendly. We felt very fortunate to have stumbled on such a great little shop.

We visited Two for Joy twice in our two days in Amsterdam. The coffee is excellent, the staff a very friendly and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed. We had cake one day which was on the dry side and the quiche we had the next day was only just warm and the lettuce was turning pink so we were disappointed by the food. The coffee was excellent!!

Taking a break from research at de Nederlandse Bank, I stumbled upon this charming casual cafe. It is furnishished by comfortable leather chesterfield couches, various other eclectic chairs and tables, a persian carpet and has an open to the kitchen. The Lentil soup was delicious, the bread crispy and fresh. The homemade ice tea and the coffee were both excelllent, as was the chocolate brownie which got washed down with the later. The clienete were mostly local and the service friendly and efficient.
