I stayed in a courtyard room on the second floor for several days. I was traveling for both business and pleasure. The owners are attentive and friendly, but if you want to be left alone, they are happy to let you be.

The room was large, simple, and stylish. It was also very clean. You get a key to the front door so you can come and go as you please. The location is very good, although the neighborhood is a little . . . gritty. Still, it seems perfectly safe, and I like things with an edge to them.

I would definitely stay here again.

our expectations from tripadvisor were met. the location is the best of any hotel we ever selected. the canal is quiet on a cobblestone street. marcel and barry were great hosts. they did everything from booking musuem reservations, making a great breakfast to carrying our bags up to the top floor. the bedroom was so cozy we spent one day relaxing from jet lag in the room. it is located near central train station and canal boat tours which is a must.....especially the one that stops at each location of interest to do a full circle around town. the hotel is surrounded by great restaurants which was a sharp contrast to our trip to russia. i highly recommend amsterdam and mauro mansion as the prime place to stay. book early as there are just a short number of rooms.

Room Tip: top floor was excellent with room of canal and very quiet

Ideally placed near the central station but far enough away not to be too noisy. The owners were very warm and friendly from the start and nothing was too much trouble.

The room was probably the largest I have stayed in central amsterdam but you still have to negotiate the stairs! The bathroom was large and very well fitted with a bath and a great shower.

The honour system with the bar was great, and all very reasonably priced.

Breakfast was good - continental buffet with top quality ingredients. Recommended.

Room Tip: Try to get low floor courtyard

We stayed there 3 nights as a stop over on our trip home from South Africa . Easily acessible from the airport via train and then a short walk from Centraal Station. Very safe and comfortable. Greeted at door and while getting orientated luggage was taken to our room. We had a canal room, some reviews have suggested these rooms are noisy. Did not think that was the case at all. This is close to being a guest house, rather than a hotel. The owners were very helpful in assisting with places to eat, which were very good, not the uusual tourist places, and places to see. They have the ability to print out tickets so that you do not have to go stand in line to get tickets. The breakfast consists of quality cereals, fresh warm bread, and a selection of quality meats and cheeses. Also a little extra surpise each day like pnacakes or a fruit cup. The room was very clean adn well maintained. Also have a Mac Book and I Pad for guest use and WiFi. You definity cannot go wrong staying here.

Room Tip: We had a canal room, but I think any room would be great.

A group of friends just returned from staying 4 nights. I highly recommend this property. I would say it caters to the more sophisticated traveler. Not meant for a bunch of rowdy 20 somethings. The service is top notch, without being intrusive. If you need anything it is there. The always open honor system is a very original aspect and very reasonable - sodas, wine, water, snacks, candy, etc. It came in handy a number of late nights back from being out.

The actual location was near the red light district, but also far enough away that you were not bothered by the crowd or noise. Be prepared that the crowds do start about a block or two away. Perfect location to access the train station that takes you to and from the airport. It is located near a taxi stop. However, i doubt you will ever need one as we walked all over the city as it is so easy to do so.

We had a canal view room on the 3rd floor. I would highly recommend that room. Modernly decorated with welcome treats in the mini fridge. One of the most important qualities to me about hotel stays is to be quiet and it was very much so. There are only a handful of rooms on each floor. The stairs leading up to the floors are rather steep, so be prepared to take your time if you have large suitcases.

We were never up early enough to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. There are many, many choices for food around the hotel. Complimentary wi-fi was very nice, although a bit slow at times. They provide Ritual bath products. Enjoyed them to the point of buying our own at the store for return back to states.

I would definitley return to Mauro Mansion when back in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a Canal view and make sure the room has air conditioning. Not all do.
