“LOVE this "hotel"!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2012

Mauro Mansion is the most amazing place! It's a hotel, but it does not feel like a hotel! The rooms are BEAUTIFUL and it's right on a canal. The owners are beyond nice. I can't wait to visit again!! I was traveling alone, but it would be a very romantic place to stay in Amsterdam!

We stayed at the Mauro Mansion over New Years after seeing such positive reviews on Trip Advisor. As usual, the reviews did not lie....this B&B is outstanding!

Located less than a 5 minute walk from the train station, yet on a quiet canal, Mauro Mansion is an excellent stepping off point to explore a remarkable city. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly, almost like family in a comforting way. Our room overlooked the canal and was exceptionally clean. The bathroom was ample with a great shower and excellent water pressure.

The breakfast each morning was wonderful, coffee was free, extraordinary, and available 24/7, as were snacks. There was a charming 'honor bar' that was fully stocked and always open as well. Simply keep track of what you take and let them know at checkout.

Attention to detail makes the Mauro Mansion what it is. NYE is famous in Amsterdam for LOTS of fireworks. Lots is a massive understatement, and they go on all night. We had no problem sleeping though, as the owners had thoughtfully placed earplugs beside our bed for when we decided to finally turn in. Ooh, and a bottle of Champagne on ice for a New Years toast.

I almost feel sorry for those who visit Amsterdam and stay at one of the many nice hotels in the city. The Mauro Mansion is such a delight, and exceptional in every way. We will return.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor overlooking the canal and loved it!

Great b&b style accomodation, lovely decor. Berry and marcel friendly, lucky marcel alerted us at check-in that there was a strike on the Thalys train we were departing with when we check out so we could try make alternative arrangements. We were on the second floor and the stairs are steep - lucky our two 20kg+ suitcases were moved up and down by the staff. We were there for our wedding anniversary and we were delightfully surprised to find a bottle of champagne and roses on our arrival. Clean room, funky decor, mauro mansion had everything you can think of in an accomodation included dvds, ipad, laptop we could just use. Honesty bar was a great idea - at very good prices too! Very close to central station, quiet area close to both red light district and Chinatown. A great area to stay in overall. Great quality breakfast also included in tariff is a plus. Highly recommended.

We booked this 'hotel' for two nights based on the stellar reviews on this site and the need to be close to central station for an early flight. Now, the service was very good, and they have alot on offer in terms of guide books you can use, a great well-priced range of snacks and wines, and free coffee and breakfast, including a pancake. However, there are far nicer hotels in Amsterdam (the Ambassade, for one!) For the value however, it's great. I suppose it's been so highly rated because of all the little extras, such as an ipad you can use and free welcome drinks. The Philips WakeUp lights are a great touch, however it'd be useful to have a manual (I could only figure it out because I'd recently bought one.)
My issues are that no one managed to tell us how (or where) to turn on the heat, so we had to figure it out the hard way the next morning in a freezing bedroom. Typically, when a hotel is expecting guests, you'd think they would turn on the heat for you IN WINTER. Also, the bathroom smelled a bit off for my taste, and a vent would be a wise choice. As is stated on their website, the street level rooms are a bit noisy. What's not mentioned is that you hear everyone that comes and goes out of the building. Most people are respectful though.
I think the owners have done a nice job with the place and if you want a small, place to stay that doesn't have a corporate look or feel, then I'd advise this place.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, don't go for the street level. They've put plexiglass over t...

I stayed at Mauro Nov. 2011; front room, canal view. The room would present some challenges had I been traveling with my partner; there was just enough space to hang and store my clothes- for two people it would have been tight. That aside, the room was large for AMS, airy, high ceilings, quiet. I find it amusing that people comment on the stairs as an issue- its AMS- anything built prior to 1950 has narrow winding stairs. My only reservation here was the location- great if you want to be near the Centraal Train station (if you are planning day trips by train out of AMS perfect location); but I found the adjacent RLD to be annoying and a bit grating. For the price and standard of attention this hotel is a great find. The room was pretty spotless (I am a clean freak so am highly critical); service impeccable (they arranged for me to get a much needed massage in my room one evening which I recommend to all with airplane fatigue).Would definitely stay there again; but would also consider staying closer to the Museum District just to avoid the rowdy bands of youths making the rounds thru the RLD. As I live in a major city I wanted to escape this kind of aggression; for others it may not be an issue. The location of the hotel is on a quiet street overlooking a canal- quite charming and peaceful considering the proximity to the central hub of AMS.

Room Tip: Chose a room facing the canal if possible; and yes, they seem to book quickly.

Berry & Marcel are lovely two guys, they try hard to make you feel comfortable while your stay in their boutique hotel. We like the room very much, especially the design and furnitures looks great. These two lovely guys thought about every little detail in hotel design which makes it just perfec

Location is good for public transportation. 2 minutes walk to central station which is very good.

Breakfast is standard but you have everything you need. Everyday they make you little compliments which are very delicious. Pancake with Strawberry was my favorite one. By the way, Thank you very much for the extra Chicken Marcel :)

Finally, this is the place where you want to stay in amsterdam. Don't you go back home without you staying in Mauro Mansion!!

Excellent location close to all the bars, cafes, shops, red light district and railway station. A boutique hotel run by dedicated owners offering a tranquil resting place not far from the madding crowds! Small hotel that has a truly delightful individual style. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Room Tip: I stayed in a courtyard room as the canal rooms may suffer from some road noise
