We stayed at Posthoorn this weekend just gone and highly recommend it. It is in a beautiful location along the canal and very close to the station and sights of Amsterdam. Francois is a fabulous host who took the time to tell us all the local information we needed for our stay. The room was lovely and had everything we needed and great touches like a fridge with complimentary wine/beer and drinks. The breakfast was also delicious with fresh breads and pastries, fruits, yogurts and child meats.
So much nicer than staying in a soulless chain hotel. Thank you Francois (and Celine). We hope to return with our children.

My partner and I stayed in this BnB for two nights on our first trip to Amsterdam in February this year. Following Francois' clear instructions to get us on foot from the train station to The Posthoorn, we were warmly greeted and shown to our Canal View room. The room was spacious, warm with a wonderful bathroom and bed. Despite facing the road and canal, the room was very quiet. At Francois' suggestions, we ate at some of he best restaurants in Amsterdam that are within close walking distance of the BnB. Breakfast was served in our room at a pre agreed time and was superb! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this historic BnB from which we could easily walk to all the key parts of Amsterdam. We would welcome the chance to return there again ourselves and hence strongly recommend it to others!

The B&B was amazing! The room was clean and quaint, beautifully decorated. The friendly host, Jasper showed us the incredible historic building, explaining the tunnel under the canal used by the underground church! He delivered a lovely picnic basket to our door in the morning full of breakfast items and the room fridge was stocked with drinks, even beer and wine. The B&B was in a fantastic location, within walking distance to the major sights. When we return to Amsterdam, we I'll surely stay at the Posthoorn!

We stayed at the Posthoorn late December 2012 for a romantic short holiday.

The location was fantastic, very close to everything...train station, Square, Tourist attractions, markets etc. The room was very comfortable, breakfast very nice and fresh. The staff were excellent, informative and friendly

I would certainly return, very highly recommended.

Ajay

Just returned from an eight day trip in Amsterdam.Fabulous city filled with unbelieveably friendly people.I believe our positive outlook started at the Posthoorn. We had a delightful room with a lovely canal view and everything we needed to feel at home. The Posthoorn is situated in a beautiful part of the Prinsengracht canal.Within walking of some of the best sights of Amsterdam, close to great restaurants and charming bars and cafes and right across the canal from the Jordaan. It doesn't get better than this!Well actually it does.Francois our host is such a warm and gracious host.So helpful in everyway. His breakfasts are so tasty.I never had such tasty fruit in the middle of winter and his boiled eggs were perfect everytime. His recommendations on restaurants and what to see were great and it was never too much for him to make dinner reservations or call taxis for us.Francois definitely made our visit to Amsterdam that much more exceptional.

My fiancé and I stayed at The Posthoorn for three nights in February 2013. We had an absolutely lovely time helped so much by the fact that we were staying somewhere so lovely. The Posthoorn is a great B&B. Francois (the owner) was very knowledgeable about the history of the house, the immediate area and Amsterdam as a whole. He helped us very much with restaurant recommendations (which were excellent!), the best times to visit attractions to avoid crowds and also where not to eat! The Posthoorn is in an absolutely lovely part of Amsterdam - totally away from the really touristy parts which we were hoping to avoid. It is on a main canal, the same street as the Anne Frank House (about 5-10 minutes walk away) and near many restaurants, cafes, attractions and eating and drinking establishments.

Francois brought breakfast to our room every morning, which was lovely. Our room was big, comfortable and very clean with a kitchenette and en suite facilities.

We would love to return to The Posthoorn and cannot rate it highly enough!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Canal View Room which is lovely, overlooks the canal and is on the ground floor.

Housed within the fine walls of a listed historical 17th century canal house on one of Amsterdam's most picturesque canals in the heart of the city - the Prinsengracht - part of the UNESCO World Heritage, The Posthoorn Bed and Breakfast features three charming rooms which offer guests four-star luxury whilst staying in the Jordaan district. The Canal View Room, Patio Room and Hidden Church Room ooze opulent and stylish character within the pleasant atmosphere of this contemporary bed and breakfast flawlessly disguised in the old-fashioned exterior of this canal house. The history behind this interesting building dates back to 1578, during which time Catholics were refused to visit their churches so several hidden churches were built in private houses. Around 1650, one was built in the basement of what stands as The Posthoon today and if you wish the owner will be pleased to tell you the history of the house. The elegant decor of The Posthoorn is boasted throughout each and every room. The livingspaces feature a flat-screen cable TV, en-suite bathroom with under-floor heating, comfortable sofas, free wireless internet. In each room you will find a kitchenette including coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator complete with white wine, beer, orange juice, milk and mineral water.
