The Wyndham Apollo is within 15-minutes walking distance both from the RAI Centre (in one direction) and the Van Gogh museum/ restaurants of central Amsterdam-- this was the perfect location for my 5-day stay.

My room (238) was spacious, comfortable and clean. From the front desk to the waiters serving breakfast -- I found the staff extremely helpful, fielding my many requests with a smile. Situated right on a canal, the view from the restaurant and the lounge area is lovely. As I sipped my morning coffee I watched boats ply the waters just outside the window-- and at the end of the day, I enjoyed a glass of wine and bowl of soup fireside in the lounge.

Overall, good value for my money.

Room Tip: Canal-side, definitely!

This hotel is basically two hotels in one. The tower (new part) is nice with modern rooms, working facilities and nice views. The lower floors are extremely old and has room furnishings from the 1980s. Looks like they just use these to make tons of money.

Our room (127) was tiny, had a view of the HVAC unit and heat did not work. Noises came from the HVAC but hotel staff was unwilling to move us or fix it. This type of place is why people think Europeans have bad attitudes and are lazy, both are true here!

Our room only had cold A/C in the middle of winter, staff said they would investigate, nothing happened. Its obvious they have business from the conferences nearby, but if you are considering staying here avoid it.
