“Bed bugs and hidden charges”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

Hotel asked for a deposit of 50 euros on check in.

Very expensive drinks and snacks in the bar. 19euros for two croissants. (No prices or menus before ordering)

Lovely decor in the public areas, I.e. lobby, bar and corridors. However rooms were somewhat of a let down. In our "executive" room there was a empty cupboard that was supposed to be a mini bar.

Expensive Internet and TV usage. - tv 15 euros a day

Charged a tax of 3 euros per day at the end of the stay,

After checking out of the hotel bed bug bites began to emerge all over my body. Upper legs, back, side, torso. I have 50 + bites. By the time the bed bug bites began to emerge I had already checked out, therefore could not inspect the room for evidence of them. No sightings of bed bugs, ( i do not expect bed bugs in a 4star hotel, so did not look for them) but i can confidently say that the bites came from this hotel, as I have not stayed in any other accommodation at the time that the bites emerged,

Too far from the centre of Amsterdam.

Advertised as 4star at 2star prices. I would not rate this hotel as a four star and would not recommend it,

My husband and I just spent 4 nights in this lovely hotel and had a lovely time there. It's only let down was that it was too far away from public transport such as the tram, but apart from that it was fantastic and the staff where very plesant and helpful.

we loved everything about the place - next to a private marina, clean, well maintained and spacious. 10-15 min walk to all museums and Vondelspark, lovely. Breakfast was below average though and far too overpriced. Another point - parking fee of 35 euro for a night compared to free parking (between 22:00 and 9:00) outside ...

Room Tip: park outside

First time in Amsterdam last year, just made by choice searching the web and matching known brands, and came across this great hotel in Amsterdam. Located in a romantic corner of the city, the staff is warm, efficient and amicable. Breakfast was great, room was a bit small but clean and comfortable, with a nice channel view. I really enjoyed my time there! Fully recommend it for business or leisure trips!

Room Tip: Ask them for rooms with a channel view!

We stayed in the Apollo for business. Great service. All staff, from reception to the engineering department worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. Nice restaurant, with a terrace overlooking a canal and a small marina. The menu is short, but the food is OK and reasonably priced. The hotel is within walking distance from a small shopping area featuring a few restaurants. Avoid booking through travel agents; when contacted directly, the hotel will offer their best rates. Breakfast is charged at a 50% discount when booked at arrival for the entire stay. Just ask the receptionist.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have been renovated yet.

After staying for one week at the ramada, we stay the second week of august at the wyndham ,honestly to say is that the staff at wyndham where not customer orientated as like at the ramada hotel i gave a 4 rating ,but should be 3.5 on Dutch standards .
-check in ,reservation could not be found ,but fast and professional the issue was solved !
-breakfast spread is ok ,but boiled eggs where cold during the 8 days i stayed there
the view is nice when having breakfast ,also the coffee is surely not up to standard for a hotel of this caliber ,should consider a machine on the buffet as they do at your sister hotel
-also to put a the bread stand on tray racks is a bit odd.
-rooms ,was dirty and dusty ,closed shelf are very dusty .this needs attention !

Room Tip: Only book room in the new section ,unless you want to have a old room with wooden floors

Reinforcing many other reviews - Nice, spacious room with a modern bathroom with quality fixtures. Very quiet setting with nice views of canals/river. Lounge/bar area and back deck have an outstanding view of the river/canal and a very peaceful vibe. Front desk staff was exceptionally efficient, friendly, and helpful. Only negatives were very slow table service for coffee/drinks one morning and the breakfast buffet was not a good value for the money. While the core of the city is too far to walk, Museum area is only about 15 minute walk, and trams/bikes area great value. Overall, exceeded our expectations.

Room Tip: Upper floors in back are very quiet.
