“A very unique place to stay for a couple of nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2009

I would rate this hotel at 3 1/2 stars. The rooms are quite unique. They are very modern and clean. There is a big king size bed which is actually the width of the whole room. e. There is no place to put your luggage and no chair to sit on. There is a big flat screen TV mounted at the end of the bed with a remote to control the TV, the lights and blinds in the room. The toilet and shower are enclosed in circular pod-like glass doors. My teens enjoyed changing the colour of the lights in these 2 enclosures. We took tram #5 to get to the downtown area. The bus terminal is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The staff will tell you where you can park your car for free all night (dropoff spot is a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel). There are many tourist sites and museums to visit. We especially enjoyed taking a bike tour through Mike's Bike Shop. Be prepared to do a lot of walking along the canals and neighboring streets and take lots of photos along the way!

I stayed here for work (a conference) in Amsterdam - was here for two nights. I like it - it was the kind of experience I wanted - a hotel that is a little bit "different". It's definitely "cool" - it has internet, 24 hr bar/snack area, nice communal areas in which to work or rest around the "lobby" and so on. Essentially it's a modern interpretation of a hotel, especially a hotel for mid-range business travellers.

I liked it - clean, cool, functional.

The room is small but very neat ! You'll love the shower and the big king size bed !!!
The multimedia remote control is a good game but sometimes doesn't work properly !
The first day, the AC was too strong and we were freezing, but they fixed it in 12 hours.
A must to try during your next trip to Amsterdam !

We stayed for two nights on a weekend trip from Frankfurt. The self-check-in was easy, staff friendly and helpful, and room was clean, although we both mentioned the halls and room smelled a bit stale, possibly due to improper ventilation. BE FOREWARNED, the rooms are very, very small. That having been said, the bed was nice (and big), and the shower was very nice too. While most all room functions can be controlled by the remote control (lighting, TV, room temp., blinds, etc.) we did think the remote could have been more user friendly and in several languages instead of just symbols. The room temp. during the day was colder than we would have preferred and the remote was of no help (note: overheard another guest telling the front desk this too). We were glad to be checking out, but if you are a solo traveler or very much into togetherness this is not a bad place.

Perhaps it's my age showing (nearly 40) but this place wasn't for me. here's why:
1. Tiny room
2. No storage space. Not even a small closet
3. No room service
4. Air conditioning totally ineffective
5. Everything pricey
6. A long way from the center of Amsterdam

In short, you get a tiny room with few services, a long way from town for quite a bit of money. Next time, I'll definitely go for a traditional hotel which values service over style.

This hotel was wonderful. The rooms are super high tech, very clean, very comfortable. It's a hotel that really was designed with travelers in mind. We enjoyed our stay here immensely.

It's a bit far from the city center, but I didn't mind because it was nice and quiet and there's also easy access to public transportation to get right into the city in less than 15 minutes.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2009

My wife and I stayed here for a recent weekend away with friends. The location, while not in the city centre, in my opinion is nearly perfect. Just a few minutes from the train or tram (no. 5) into the centre (15 mins tram ride) and one stop from the airport, there was really no need to stay in the centre. The price was right, comparing more than favourably to equivalent hotels, saving significant euros for our going out budget! The room was funky and despite its small size, it felt quite roomy! The bed was as big and comfortable as we've ever experienced, despite having stayed in 5 star hotels in many different countries. The 'moodpod' is a cool concept but to be honest I found it temperamental (tv issues), but other than that we had no real complaints. Each room had free Wifi access with a very fast connection, free on-demand movies, games, English satellite TV, mood lighting etc plus there were also 4 Macs in the foyer for free internet for those without their own laptop. Breakfast and meals available downstairs was convenient but a little expensive. I'd recommend heading in to town. Overall I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the hotel to stay for a short trip to Amsterdam and really think it is a concept that will take off successfully elsewhere!
