You need to read all the other reviews. Dennis is everything that you read in the other reviews and more. From the zoom call so he can personalize your tour to his infectious love of Amsterdam and the surrounding country, he exceeded expections. Since we were fortunate to have 12 days with Dennis, we not only got to see all the usual museums and historical sites, but also got to walk through a number of different neighborhoods and soak up the atmosphere (and wine) while sitting in local cafes. We are looking forward to our next visit to Amsterdam and seeing our new friend. Jeanne and Helga.
Hi Jeanne and Helga,
What a privilege it was to be your guide and host for 12 days in Amsterdam!
I'm so happy to know it was better than excellent.
Also I'm looking forward to your next visit.
Take care.

We had plans to see Amsterdam with Dennis back in 2020 when Covid hit. We didn’t know if the stars would align again for our family of 7 to get together and make this trip happen again– but, we were lucky enough to have that come to fruition in May of 2023. I read about Dennis back in 2019 in the Germany Rick Steve’s travel guide. We have never booked a personal tour like this, but decided with such a strong endorsement, we would. We were so glad we did. Dennis was kind enough to work thru several schedule changes with us to make this happen in 2023 and met with us twice via Zoom to get to know us a bit – and give us a chance to get to know him. Dennis did not disappoint. He is very approachable and is a great communicator. For our kids, ages 22-28, our “Dennis – guided” tour of Amsterdam was their absolute favorite throughout our 2-week plus trip thru Amsterdam and much of Germany. Dennis is so knowledgeable and has a true love for his city. This is evident in the stories he shares. We all felt that spending our day with Dennis was like spending a day with a good friend. Getting to learn about Amsterdam – its neighborhoods, culture, lifestyle, history, architecture, and hidden spots – the bonus. He is incredibly knowledgeable. He was gracious enough to make suggestions for our stay, to take care of getting our tickets to the Anne Frank house, and to schedule a canal tour for us as well. Thank you Dennis for such an enjoyable time! You helped us create some very fond family memories in exploring and learning about Amsterdam. Great city. Fantastic guide! Hi Nicole,
I'm so happy we finally met.
You have a great family.
Good to hear the 'Dennis-guided' tour was the absolute favorite of your kids.
Thank you for your kind words.

Spending the day exploring Amsterdam with Dennis was THE highlight of our recent trip. We learned so much about life in the Netherlands, its history, customs, architecture, food and more (he was trained as an architect before starting a travel biz). We Zoomed the week before so Dennis could get to know us and understand our areas of interest, and he even gave us ideas about other Dutch cities we planned to visit. When we met Dennis in person, we instantly felt at ease -- it was like we were exploring the city with an old friend who happened to know the city inside and out. We were with Dennis for 6 hours and the day flew by. It was not inexpensive, but worth every Euro! If we get back to Amsterdam, we will definitely book Dennis again.
Hi Carolyn,
So nice to hear our time together was the highlight of your recent trip.
I'm happy to know it was like you were exploring the city with an old friend.
Thank you for your kind words.
See you next time.

Walking the city with someone who lives there is the way to go. We Zoom’d w Dennis prior to leaving the US which was extremely helpful as far as letting him know what we were all interested in seeing and getting to know him a bit. We walked, took a canal ride on a private boat, had lunch on the boat and walked the afternoon away. We ended our day long tour in a pub over a beer, perfect ending to a great day. Dennis recommended a few restaurants on our zoom call which we were able to make reservations for before we even left the US. Great idea. I highly recommend Dennis for his knowledge, enthusiasm and organization.
Hi Don,
Thank you for highly recommending me.
It was great walking my city with you.
And it was a pleasure to meet you.

We first “met” Dennis via a video call earlier this year to discuss our planned trip in May. He was easy to talk to and we felt comfortable asking him questions. From that initial meeting, we knew we had made the right decision. When we told him we planned to visit the Rijksmuseum, Dennis let us know about the special Vermeer exhibition and we were fortunate enough to purchase tickets to see it.
Dennis is so much more than a tour guide. His friendly nature and spontaneous (unscripted) style made for a perfect day of walking and talking, shopping, stopping at a herring stand, and picking up cheese and wine for our 2-hour private boat tour of the canals - which was outstanding. All while learning about the culture and history of the Netherlands and Amsterdam. He also made us dinner reservations at one of his favorite restaurants which we enjoyed very much. Dennis shared parts of Amsterdam tucked away beyond the usual tourist attractions. His love of Amsterdam is evident and infectious. The next time I visit Amsterdam, I will definitely call Dennis first.
Highly recommend.
Hi Patricia,
So good to hear you made the right decision.
I'm happy to know I'm so much more than a tour guide.
It was a pleasure spending the day with you in my city.
See you again next time.

Dennis led a few of us traveling friends on a 4-hour tour our first day in Amsterdam.
From the moment Dennis met us outside our rental apartment, he was friendly and disarming. While quickly getting a handle on our interests, he began to lead us on a wonderful walk, sharing history and stories along the way. We wanted a specialty cheese shop (and some lessons about the cheese), we got it! We wanted coffee, we got it. One of the best chocolate shops in town (and a history of Dutch cocoa production)? Done! Where to find the best books, frites, shopping? No problem. And on and on and on. He even managed to (ever so gently) share some tips on do’s and don’ts of Dutch culture.
Dennis is a treasure trove of knowledge and a joy to be around. Our four hours were over in a blink and I wished for more time with this warm, smart person who clearly loves his city.
Thank you, Dennis!
Hi Sara,
I'm happy to know I'm a treasure trove of knowledge and a joy to be around.
It's great knowing you got it all.
I wish we had more time together.
Maybe next time.
