We stayed 3 nights in April and can only concur with all the other reviewers. Yvon and Christa were so very helpful. They even carried our luggage up and down the stairs for us. We loved having our own kitchen, large windows that overlooked the street. Great shower, great location, and plenty of space in the living room. The bedroom was small and tight, similar to hotel rooms in Manhatten in the theatre district. This apartment offered so much more. We were walking distance to the main train station and many sights. Used the bus and bike taxi all with help from our hosts.

Room Tip: If you want a larger bedroom, stay on the 3rd floor. trade off is more narrow steps.

We spent three days here, on our first visit to Amsterdam, and really enjoyed the flexibility of an apartment in the city. We were able to walk there easily from the station where we arrived, and we were well within walking distance of the city centre with its many attractions. Yvon met us and gave us lots of helpful tips on where to go and where to eat. There are small shops and supermarkets and several restaurants nearby for meals and other provisions. The hosts are always ready to help, and provide more or less anything you ask for. I notice that a previous reviewer has said an iron would help; well, it's there now! We suggested a bit more crockery for those wanting to eat in house, and I'm sure that will also be provided in future.

The one aspect which you might need to note, apart from the steep stairs mentioned by other reviewers, is that the bedroom is very small, just big enough for two single beds pushed together, no room for bedside tables or lamps. A small TV on the wall, but it's not comfortable to sit up and watch it, or read in a good light. However, if you don't mind stripping the bedding off, you can make it up again in the sitting room, which has two very comfortable couches and plenty more space. Just that it can be noisier in there if you leave the windows open overnight, as it's on a main road.

We ate breakfasts at Buon Apetito over the road, which serves good fresh food at reasonable prices, with a delightful waitress, and seems to be open at all hours. We also enjoyed meals at Ponte Vecchio a little into town on the same side of the street, and Toro Dorado and Gauchos, both especially good for steaks. These are next to each other also on the same side, but going towards the station. Greenwoods, which has two cafés in town, is absolutely the best for brunch or cakes!

Three days in Amsterdam meant we had ample time to see quite a lot; four or five would have been ideal to take in some more museums than we had time for. We did find it overall considerably more expensive than prices in middle England where we come from. Think London prices, in fact, and you won't be far out.

Very welcoming host and very comfortable apartment. We really enjoyed our stay at La Vie en Rose. The stairs were a bit of a challenge with all of our luggage but it was well worth the effort. Would definitely stay again and recommend it for others. Good location - close to central station. Nice little touches from the hosts to make the stay special - deodourant and moisturiser in the bathroom, coffee machine and shampoo and conditioner for our use. Liked the local recommendations for places to eat.

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time staying at the La Vie En Rose. The hosts Christa and Yvon could not have been more helpful. It really did feel like a home away from home, spacious living room, great kitchen area and the walk in shower was fantastic! This was everything we wanted and more. Christa had a map ready for us when we got there which was great and we managed to fit in all the places we wanted to visit during our short stay.
The location was perfect! Only a short walk from Central station and lots of main attractions. It really was an incredible place to stay and we can't wait to go back again. Thankyou both! =]

What can we say that hasn't been said?? One thing we loved not mentioned......the wall-to-wall radiator style heaters! These make for probably the most comfotable living ever ---NO cold spots and NO hot air drying out your skin. A real unexpected treat on a cold spring morning. After our stay @ La Vie en Rose, we had a week in the shadow of the Eiffel tower (over 3x the price) and guess what?? As great as that apt was.....I MISSED La Vie en Rose!!! It took literally three days to get over it. This is just about the highest compliment I have ever given to any place, anywhere. We truly loved staying in Christa and Yvons' 'house.' We shall return....o yes we shall! Miss you girls xo Brett & Shellie
