“Poor value for money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013

Firstly, we didn't know the Botel had been moved across the Ij to a very shady part of town! pent too much time using the ferry to get back and forth to Centraal Station and to access all that Amsterdam has to offer. The local bars/cafes don't take cash and we didn't have the right card so couldn't eat or drink near the Botel. The accommodation was, to put it mildly, appalling. Cramped, very small en-suite (you can toilet, wash and shower all at the same time.) No soap, no hospitality items and you have to pay a deposit to even get a hair dryer!
Tried the bar but the wine was awful and prices high. Breakfast was just as bad, toaster didn't work properly, cheese and cooked meat was curling and going a strange colour and the cooked offering wasn't fit for a dog.
Would NEVER go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: A different hotel near to the city centre!

Room was very tiny. Shower would flood bathroom. Away from the city and catching the ferry can be a bit of a hassle. It was neat to stay on a "botel," but it is definitely not something I would do again. I recommend staying in the city. Bartenders were awesome!

had a 2 night break here with my son.paid 92 euros in total. rooms were very clean ,beds were comfortable and shower was hot and powerful.great view of the river from the room Typical continental breakfast with cheese ham and plenty of bread and jams, dutch chocolates flakes yogurts,,croissants.boiled egg, bacon ,sausage and beans.Drinks choices from machine inc coffee tea cappuchine etc as well as cold pure orange juice .

Games area with pool ,darts, fruit machines and pinball machine, this is in the bar area serving good range of drinks ( alc0holic and non alcoholic),snacks available.

Staff polite ,helpful and friendly.

Well worth the money

Room Tip: ask for river view, avoid bottom floor as view may be resricted

Stayed at the Botel as part of a tour. The room when first entered had a strong smell of smoke needed to fully open the windows the air out the room. Room was very small and basic not much room for any bags. Found the service from staff very poor, had to ask 3 times for our shower to be looked at and even then they took hours and solved the problem myself in the end. Also needed service late at night and no one was to be seen at the reception desk for ages. A short walk to the ferry stop across to central station and the main part of Amsterdam but would stay a lot closer if I had the choice. Cant feel it rocking though.

It was an experience for our city break .the free ferries work like clockwork and added to the experience head out of central station and catch WERF NDSM ferry ,you can see Botel in the distance to the left. It was a cheap hotel and adequate for our needs as out quite a lot , the rooms are musty and compact! The staff were non committal and quiet , I slept well but my partner found it very noisy as paper thin walls in the cabins . The breakfast was varied and good value but again compact and busy , The shower was very good but everything gets wet , ideal place for a four night stay .

It's a hotel on a boat. Can't feel it rocking. Very easy to get to and from Central Station. Basic but clean. Room to leave bags in if you've got a later flight.Channel 26 shouldn't be on before the watershed!

Located a 20min ferry ride from the main area of Amsterdame the Botel is a place to stay when you have no other option

We stayed here with a tour group as an included room
However found out the price was more than other hotels in town

The boat/room rocks and you can get very dizzy (not usually a problem for me but it was)

The bathrooms are so small your legs are in the shower while your on the toilet

The beds are comfortable only if your so tired from walking all day that you fall asleep when your head hits the rocky pillow

the rooms are small and when you place your bags on the ground (as no other place) you have no room to move around

Breakfast is cold food and cold hot food that is not replenished when needed and flavoursome

Its an experience that am glad to never have again
