“Lovely restaurant, great service, outstanding food”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

This restaurant has a fabulous location in the Jordaan district across from a canal. It is small inside, but there are tables outside too. The food is wonderful, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. What more could you want? A welcome change from the hustle and bustle and pancake restaurants!

“Very nice atmosphere and creative cuisine”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We reach by chance using Tripadvisor City Guides and based on good reviews. Most of us too Chef's menu and not regretted, starter was summer salad, main pork sirloin with turnips and desert was Coconut rice pudding and wine match was perfect. The white Müller Thurgau they recommended was brilliant and paired excellent with the salad. Cooking is creative, without being too sophisticated. One of us took fish, which was even a better choice. But best thing of the evening was the quality of service, both lady waitresses were very nice and well documented about food and wine, it was a real pleasure to talk to them and it was a memorable evening. Price for fixed menu plus wine package was 59 Euros/each. Decor is very nice and warm. Would definitely return if back to Amsterdam.

“Nice place in Amsterdam”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

It is not easy to find good food in Amsterdam, at reasonable proces, here is one of my shot.
Not a long "carte" but you'll find something appealing at your taste.
The owner , a unstoppable lady, were extremely friendly and gentle.
Quite a good wines and beers variety.
The dishes took a bit long to be prepared and were not extremely large.
But don't hope for much more in Amsterdam.

“Great little find”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

Summer in Amsterdam and 3 of us were wandering the canals looking for dinner. We were SO happy to find Proeverji. Beautiful inviting atmosphere and wonderful service. Not too crowded and a little off the beaten track. Food got two thumbs up from all and was beautifully presented. It has a neighborhood bistro feeling. Waitresses were extremely friendly and informative. My husband went downstairs to compliment the chef. We will return our next time in Amsterdam.

“Modern food, traditional setting”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Initial impressions are a little underwhelming as the interior is like an old fashioned, cozy bar rather than a modern restaurant. Staff are welcoming, though, and the menu presents a shortish list of dishes to choose from. The kitchen is clearly aiming high (and the prices reflect those high aims) and it sometimes feels it is trying perhaps a little too hard. Grilled watermelon topped with ceviche and sprinkled with charcoal chips, for example - quite a lot going on here. The dishes clearly take time to prepare, so it can take awhile for things to arrive.

So a pleasant experience overall, but a slightly strange one - the food on your plate says you are in a modern restaurant with an experimental kitchen whilst the surroundings say you are in a much more traditional, even dated, establishment
