This a world class art museum which is a must see, Spent many hours there including a coffee break with Dutch waffles. Rembrandt's Night Watch is mesmerising as you walk down the grand hall. Also good to go to Heritage Museum which has more details about this painting on recorded tour.

If you want to go to a specific museum like Anne Frank's house, Van gogh, you need to book online for a specific time, as many days in advance as you can. The I Amsterdam sign is always busy

We stayed in a B&B 1 1/2 blocks from the Concertgebouw. Easy walk to the nearby museums, some of the best in the world. Close to a tram stop, from which you can reach almost anywhere else. Big park. Lots of dining and drinking options nearby. Definitely would stay in the area again.

Great if you want to cram in visits to museums in a couple of days. Advance booking recommended due to queues on the day. The whole area is a bit tatty given it's a major tourist area.

Enjoyed walking through this area every day. There is a large grass area to sit, several museums to visit and a number of street food stalls. There is also the ‘I Amsterdam ‘ sign

We stayed in Hotel Piet Hein across from Vondel park. The pros of the area: It's quiet at night, safe during the daytime and night-time, well maintained, pretty decent for transport (Tram 12 to central, tram 3 to Haarlemplein) and is obviously the closest area to stay in for getting to Rijks, Van Gogh, Stedelijk. We got into them when they opened, which I completely recommend, the only time Van Gogh is even sort of quiet is first thing in the morning.
Now the cons: Being a very affluent area local restaurants are expensive, there aren't many convenience stores, there are not many coffeeshops near by and there isn't any good pubs or clubs in the area. Which I know for everyone might not be a bad thing. I want to help people find the right area for them. Museum Quarter is ideal for those who's top priority is the museums and sleeping in a quiet area. For the proper party animals I would recommend Rembrandtplein or anywhere in the West.

lots to do and see for all ages, from educational exhibits and fun activities to serious culture for grown-ups.
Very attractive place to meet friends and share a coffee or drink in the Rijksmuseum gardens.
