“Redeemed by front desk?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

Stayed 4 nights in April. Room was not cleaned for 2 days. First day, we hung the "please clean" sign. Got back uncleaned, informed front desk, and had to request fresh towels and coffee which was brought up by front desk staff. When we left the next morning we didn't put up the door hanger (thinking that the sign might have confused them since "do not disturb" and "make up room" signs had same color and looked very similar), was out of the room by 8 a.m., so no excuse not to be clean. Got back late, room was not clean. Went through the whole thing again with front desk. Finally had clean room for the 3rd and 4th night. Quite annoying after a long day, having to wait for someone to bring up supplies. To their credit the front desk staff did a great job, from arranging for tours to providing for our needs. It would have been nicer if they had taken it upon themselves to comp us breakfast, since I feel that we didn't pay any less for uncleaned room. The excuse we got was that somehow the occupancy of our room did not show up on the housekeeping system. So despite great service by front desk, was the error caused by them? Especially after the first night...it should have been entered into the system, no?

The location is pretty quiet. We stayed in room 426, which was quiet for the most part. On one of those nights there was some activity down in the dining room and the noise could be heard in the room.

Didn't expect much from NH brand hotel in Amsterdam suburb but was pleasantly surprised. Nice staff especially at breakfast even though breakfast is not worth mentioning. It looks like the building has been recently renovated from the inside as rooms were modern and in good condition. Airplane noise can be heard sometimes but there were evenings without any planes flying over the hotel. It depends on the wind direction and runway use at Schiphol. I had a good night sleep. Rooms and bathrooms are smallish but more than enough space for two people.

I would not recommend this hotel for tourist visit to Amsterdam. 10 -15 min walk to tram stop and further 20 min tram ride to centre. Taxi was close to 30€ one way. There is a couple of restaurants nearby but nothing else, just residential area.

I always need a very quiet hotel, inside and outside.
Well, during day when I arrived there were a lot of planes, towards one of 5 runways at Schiphol airport. Rooms have double glazing but it was still loud.
But at evening and night nothing to be heard (that particular runway is not used all the time) and also not from the inside. The airco was on in room but can be switched off by pressing the button with fan sign. But sometimes a vague airco sound from outside room but nothing disturbing.
Bit small room, with a for me a little too hard bed (I need utmost softness), 2 singles pushed together. Pillow menu but ask reception first for what you need..
Nice is a freestanding desk with good chair, on which you can sit facing room and TV. Just one armchair. Lot of cupboard space.
I had emailed that I like a bath, and got a room with a bath for no money extra. Not very big but people less than 1.70 cm long can stretch out.
Minibar but empty so you can put own drinks in it. Only the executive rooms have a filled minibar.
Good enough TV that I could watch while sitting on the bed.
All Dutch channels, plus ARD, ZDF, Pro7, BBC4, Eurosport German, Travel Channel, and news channels in English and French., and English-language Japanese channel NKH World.
And NL Radio-1, and 3 radio pop-channels. NO classical muaic, although restaurant is called Sinfonia.
The whole ambiance is indeed nothing special, but I got a room for a low price through a Dutch auction site. Great breakfast. On Sundays you can have room till 5 PM as in all NH hotels and breakfast till noon. During weekdays 7 till 10 AM..
Hotel to be reached by a short ride on bus 62 from Amsterdam RAI (take the exit next to bus stop) towards Lelylaan. Then get off at bus stop Bouvigny, walk back about 250 meters, round the corner to the left. To get to the city centre, leave hotel to the left, turn right on busy road (planes flying over beside it), passing a bus stop.
Reach tram 5 and Metro 51 at tram stop Van Boshuizen 5 goes to Rijksmuseum and Concertgebouw and city centre. 51 goes to opera and then central station.
Don't know about tickets, I had a OV-chip card.
It's a 15 minute walk to that tram stop and then about 15 minutes to centre.

The rooms are on the small size and the bathroom was very small - could not fit two people in there at the same time. I was on a business trip with my husband, and while it was close to his office, it was far from the main city center area. When we arrived around 9:45pm the restaurant was still open (until 10pm), but they refused to serve us and suggested we go to the bar. We eventually got service, but grudgingly. The staff was completely unhelpful (they lacked knowledge) when it came to late night restaurants that might be open, and since you are not near the city center the options were basically non-existent. I would not stay here again if on a pleasure trip.

I went there on a business trip. It is close (aprox 15min walk, without any rush) from Finance Center. I would not recommend it for leisure, as its location is not that convenient (taxi from Amsterdam Centraal costs us 25euros). The hotel has several conference rooms, and while staying there, some seminars took place.
I ordered a room with bath, it was ok. Nicely decorated, comfort for granted and it was clean: NH style. Minibar was empty, though. There is a fitness room, three days in the dark. Lights were not working, and we guests were training thanks to TV was on.
We ordered lunch, dinner and breakfast. Breakfast is very good, but lunch/dinner were very expensive (minim 22 eur for eating sandwiches). For dinner, hamburguer was ok, but I ordered carpaccio, it was not delicious at all.
the hotel would not stand out for service either.

Let me start by saying that we stay often at NH Hotels. Why? The hotels are always good, maybe an exception of NH Mechelen (Belgium). This hotel however, is not just good, but it is very good. Clean and wide rooms, good beds, clean bathroom, friendly staff and a good breakfast. The only thing that was not so good was the walking distance to the nearest tramway/metro. And of course, it was raining during that walk. But, seriously, a perfect place to stay. The city centre is not in close distance, but public transport is (when you get there after the walk) very good.

We stayed here as a couple for 3 nights. Our room was on the 4th floor. Rooms are large and cosy with enough detail to furniture. Minibar is a regular one, not one of those weight-sensing horror devices that give you check-out nightmares. There's a strict no smoking policy. If you happen to violate it you will face a €100 fine at check out. If you want to use free Wi-Fi you've got to ask for a voucher at the reception. It contains a user name and password which is valid for 24 hours. You've got to replace the code the next day. Never register yourself from the opening page on your device, as it may suddenly charge you a €5.50 high speed internet fee. They won't refund it even if you did it mistakenly as in my case. Breakfast contains various cheese and hams, but beware, I got seriously ill from my first breakfast. I guess something I ate was not washed thoroughly or was contaminated. I blame the cheese or ham because that morning I only ate those. Fever and diarrhea did not stop until next day. Another issue is the noisy heater. You are limited to adjust the air condition to between 17 and 23 degrees only. And when you set it to a higher blowing rate, it will be quite noisy. Transportation is another thing. You've got to walk 10 minutes at least to the nearest tram station (Van Bouschizen or something). Anyway, our agent had upgraded us from a 3-star hotel near airport to this, so we did not bother the issues too much.
