The place is very charming and old. In the upper floor you have a nice view on the water. If you step into Tue second floor you will recognise that the ground is a little bit tilted.

Open till 3am at the weekends, this bar is housed in a 15th century building. Good beer, good staff, good music, good atmosphere. Not a tourist bar & allows smoking so not for everyone but I loved it as it was full of 'locals'. Superb.

My husband and I just visited this cafe and we had a blast. The bartenders are friendly and the atmosphere is great. It has a local feel and the old crooked building is just great to visit. We would go back on our next visit.

We liked this cafe so much that we returned three times on our 5-day visit. The staff are friendly and helpful, making good recommendations. We also met the owner, who gave us a little bit on the history of the place.

There is seating in front outside, which is great for people-watching, and you are right across the street from Rembrandt's house. There is also seating indoors, seats at the bar, and seats outside in the back, which give you a great view of the canal. A former lock keeper's house, it exudes history mixed with a little bit of romance. It certainly invites you to slow down for a bit and relax.

We tried the Dommelsch and the Hertog Jan (both became our favorite beers), and our favorite appetizers were the Bitterballen. There were also several good Belgian beer (Leffe and others) varieties. We tried many of them over our three visits.

Whether having a coffee, beer, or a bite to eat, this is a great place to relax and enjoy a taste of Dutch history and hospitality. I highly recommend stopping here.
