The building and the room we had both seemed a bit jaded and in need of a refurb, but I have to say it was spotlessly clean and our double room was a good size with a nice en suite with a great shower over the bath. Very soft bed. It was a bit noisy from the trams which ran right by the hotel at the front, although they didn't run too late. (2 euros 80 each way for the 20 minute trip into the city centre) Probably quieter if you get a room at the back of the hotel. Staff were friendly and polite and spoke excellent English. Fantastic buffet breakfast- you won't go hungry! Reasonable bar prices.

Room Tip: Probably quieter at the back of the hotel.

Nice hotel, with two tram stops in front of the hotel.
The frontdeskt has a very good service.
The room is large, clean and the beds are nice.

With the tram at the front of the hotel you can go to the main tourist attractions in 30 minutes.

Something very important, if you will go to Amsterdam by car, park your car at the hotel underground parking and take the tram.

Don't think about going by car.... it's a nightmare!!! the bikes, the trams, the buses and the people makes impossible to move around within it. Even also parking... it's innexistent...

Take the tram, it's clean, safe and nice... :)

Have just returned from here, staying with my mother. Although out of town, the tram journey in and out is easy and getting to the airport was fine (albeit the bus drivers are fond of their brakes!). The hotel itself is really unattractive from the outside but inside was perfectly fine, we had one incident where the room wasn't hoovered but the next day it was spotless. The staff were really helpful with all our questions and random requests for things. The hotel restaurant is expensive but we ate at the restaurant which is on the canal and that was just fine. Having the supermarket close was great too. Ask for a room overlooking the canal.

we arrive there 19 april 2013,

quite a friendly staff at the reception, altough missed a little promise (she said the room will be ready in approx 1 hour) when we came back in 1 hour. it took total 2 hours for the room to be ready.
anyway everything else was great,
nice shopping district just around the corner.
there is this small yellow shop/tent selling french fries with dips and fried chicken, they were very very delicious.

room was very small, but clean.

We stayed the weekend here and were a little upset about not being in the centre at first, but after one quiet night there were actually quite happy at not being in the centre of things. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and breakfast is generous. The distance into town not so far after all, as the trams run every quarter of an hour or so, Number 7 taking you to the Museum Quarter and 14 to Dam and shopping.Tickets can be bought at the back of the tram, 2.80 for a one way ticket valid for an hour and 7.50 for the 24 hour ticket. Parking in the hotel is a bit pricey, though you can take your chances with outside the hotel (free Friday night from 7 pm till 9 am. There is also a small market on Saturday morning and a supermarket nearby for a whole cheese or some of those wonderful crispy butter biscuits. Would stay here again.

The hotel is located slightly out of town which is reflected in the price but a 20/25 minute tram ride by bus or tram into the centre of town is fine. The hotel looks a bit of a mess from the outside but inside is much better, staff were really friendly and helpful, spoke good English! The view from outside our window wasn't great because there were broken glasses and beer bottles in the gutter outside but at least the snow covered them up! Breakfast was really good though!

Just returned from Amsterdam and this hotel was clean, comfortable room, friendly staff. The room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet. But at 07.00 each morning of our stay the builders started work in the office block next door. This was not a problem as we wanted to get up about that time, we was offered another room but decided to stay as it was so quiet, and did give us an early start to the day. Front of hotel is on a mane road so back of hotel is best. The number 69 bus runs past the front and goes direct to the airport, also the number 14 tram runs from outside to Dam square so getting about was no problem. Should you have problems finding a restaurant in town go to Central station platform 2, Grand Cafe Restaurant, GREAT RESTAURANT .
