“Nice hotel with nearby transport links into the City Centre.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights on a recent trip to Amsterdam. Not much to say really. Its very modern (4 star), clean, great facilities with a nice bar and restaurant. Check-in took a little while but it was quite busy when we arrived. Do not rule out this hotel because of its location on the map. It is very near a tram station (Tram No 4) which takes you through some of the nicer parts of Amsterdam that you wouldn't see if you were staying in the city centre. The tram ride into the city centre takes around 15 minutes. The tram costs €2.50 single to Amsterdam central station or you can pay €7.50 for a 24 hour pass to use on any of Amsterdam's many tram routes.

Dear Milburns,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are happy to read you enjoyed your stay with us and I hope we will be able to welcome you again in the future!

As far as the tram connection to the city centre goes, I read you actually had a slow driver. Normally the tram is about 5 minutes faster getting to Dam Square and Central station then you described. It does indeed however, give you a chance to see more areas of the city.

Hopefully until next time,

Nice hotel, modern with all mod cons.
Reception is nicely appointed and they think of small things.. raining outside? Towels available at reception to dry to you off.
Lift situation OK, 4 lifts so minimal wait.
We were given a "superior room" - but be warned this is the BOTTOM end of the spectrum. It is the lowest level - and the rooms are tiny. Executive rooms are a decent size.
Fitness center is good with sauna, water etc etc, but getting there is a pain as only 1 of the 4 lifts go there. Tip: go to ground floor and take stairs.
Breakfast good and big with lots of choice.
As for location, it is a 4 min walk to the tram station to take #4 in to town (25 mins to central station). So although Novotel Amsterdam "City" it is not.
But all in all friendly, nice staff and a well appointed hotel.

Stayed here from the 27th Oct for 2 days. Yes the hotel is a little way from the centre, but the trams & metro are excellent. The hotel was very comfortable, we upgraded our room for 60 euros( as seen in a prev review) this included the mini bar, tv packages, bathrobes etc, which was great after a day of walking around!. Also free wifi which was good. A very pleasant stay and would recommend.

Room Tip: Upgraded rooms are on the 15th floor and very nice

We were here as part of our Globus Tour- European Tapestry. It was a beautiful hotel with a clean and modern look. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide selection of different foods. I would stay here again even though it's a bit out of town because it was super close to the rail so it was no big deal to walk over and get right on.

Went to Amsterdam for the weekend and chose this hotel.
Stayed on the top floor, with the city view.
Staff: Very good, competent and happy. Always easy to communicate, and very helpful.
Rooms: Very nice, clean, quite big, and you got everything you need in the room if not, only one call to the reception away to get what you wanted.
Got wifi and cable internet in the rooms, a minibar, tv, telephone, hairdryer and all the shower equipment you need. Bathrobes and slippers were a big plus.
Fitness room: Very good equipped, tv, music, water-bottles and towels. Sauna and relaxing room, was very nice. But quite difficult access because of all the keys, and cards to get thru the doors.
The internet was quite weird, and was interrupted all the time.
And we missed a swimming pool.
Easy to get to the city with the tram.
After all: Very good, clean and perfect for a comfortable stay.
Loved the fresh green apples at all times as a snack.

Room Tip: Top floor was very good, quiet with a good view.

Staff were confident, happy, good service ethic, well organised and keen to help. Everything you want when staying on business. The connections from the hotel were excellent, taxis outside, tram & train a short walk away, plus there is a small shopping centre close by. This isn't well signposted and it's in a residential area, but only 15 mins walk away on AJ Ernststraat. There are some nice shops & good places to eat here. Only critisism is food at hotel is expensive, but it's what you expect at a hotel such as this. Overall a great experience.

Stayed here on a weekend trip to Amsterdam with my family. It is really an excellent hotel from the minute you walk in the door till you leave. The staff are just great all the time. I messed up my booking and the sorted it out. Reception was really attentative at all times. Anything we wanted was taken care of immediately. Breakfast was really well organised and efficient and really good. I get the impression that everyone in this hotel are really well trained. They are also all very friendly. I love the architecture of the lobby and dining area too. It's not far to town at all maybe 15min by tram which is practically around the corner. The only thing I would change is I'd prefer a harder matress on the double bed and on the sofa bed. My wife thought the matress was OK but for me any my son they could have been harder.
