Came here with wife on Tuesday night.
Got reservations over the phone an hour or two before arriving. Definitely need to reserve as they are fully booked.

The restaurant has excellent service and their staff is super friendly. They are apt and able to answer and recommend suggestions. The place serves authentic Dutch foods and has a menu that allows its patrons to construct various ways of eating...
- tasting menu which let's you try most of their appetizers, a subset of their entrees, and a sampling of their desserts.
- you can get the combination appetizer which gives you a serving or all of their hot and cold plates plus their special appetizers.
- you can get a sampling of their desserts
- a la carte on everything.

Would recommend doing the big beginning appetizer sampler plus extra for their restaurant special appetizers (Frisian sugarbread is a must, very tasty)

Ordered the flounder and the braised beemster veal. The food was very nicely prepared and tastes very differently from the cuisines I've had thus far (perhaps this is true local Dutch cuisine). The meal was not very good, but the service and atmosphere was superb. They also give a lot of food, so didn't order dessert (the dessert list didn't seem very interesting anyway)

Thank Kev L

Having a traditional Dutch background,I was a bit disappointed.they did sat there is a French influence...like the mash with truffles, which I hated.a fascination with beets???
Waiters very friendly, they have no clue of good service though.our table was never cleared of the crumbs of the first bread served.the pork fat was strangely mixed with apples....usually only needed salt and pepper to be delicious.again cheese with beets??
Pork was unsalted but cooked beautifully.the tomato and beef soup was a bit bland and really a consommé with poached quail eggs....could have been a winner.
The trout salad was really excellent
Not to be missed as a culinary experience, maybe we ordered the wrong dishes for our taste.

We ate at Greetje based upon the recommendation of our concierge at Hotel de L'Europe.
The restaurant was about 2 miles from our hotel. We were promptly seated by a waitress immediately upon arrival. We sat upstairs with a nice view of the bustling street below.
The restaurant was quiet when we arrived about 7pm but by 8 it was virtually filled.
Our waitress was pleasant, helpful and spoke perfect English. We ordered a glass of wine and a local beer. The menu was mainly a testing menu with three courses of varying complexity and cost.
My first course was a cooked Romaine and beet salad. My second course was a Dutch beef dish with a delicious brown gravy. Desert was a tree of small dishes including a creme brûlée, mixed berries, and a meringue type cookie with a creme Angelia's sauce.
In summary the service and food were excellent in a charming surroundings. I would recommend Greeje as an outstanding mid priced Amsterdam restaurant.

We were recommended this restaurant before we left the UK, and searched it out early in our stay. It was the best place we ate.
Not only was the food absolutely delicious but it was suitable for ALL the members of the family.
The staff were helpful, and accommodated my 7yr old with food issues, and my one year old gourmand. It is not a family restaurant, so, you may feel uncomfortable eating here if you have unruly children. However, the food was amazing, my ASD son declared his organic chicken with "naked butts in the grass" (green beans with white beans) to be the best thing he had ever eaten, and the chef kindly responded to his report of this.
Between the rest of us, we tried the flounder, the pork, and the chicken, and it was all beautiful. The foie gras sauce was especially delicious.
The liquorice ice cream was wonderful, such a rich texture, and the wood crème brulee, subtle and interestingly yummy.
The staff were helpful in finding everyone exactly what they wanted and serving everything to suit us.
Thoroughly recommended, although, the one year old did require some work to fit in with the surroundings.

Went there for dinner 17th of July to celebrate a birthday. All The three of us had the gourmet menu. The quality oft he food was good, but the service was really poor. During dinner nobody cares if there is still wine in your glass and breadcrumbs remain on the table even when you are already at coffee... we don’t expect miracles, but in this price range (over 200 euros for three menus with one bottle of wine) one could expect a little more professionalism. We left the place with this little feeling of having fallen into a tourist trap.
