Unlike my regular practice I did not read any tripadvisor reviews beforehand. BIG MISTAKE in this case. I have done similar tours in many cities on all continents of the world and this one was BY FAR the worst ever. You see NOTHING of the city. As other reviewers wrote, of the 1:45h tour an hour is spent at a diamond "factory" which nobody tells you when you buy the ticket. Worthless. You then pass "nearby" some of the sights in Amsterdam, often not even close enough to even see the building from the outside !!!! When we passed the Royal Palace there was a tram alongside us blocking the view. The bus driver could have slowed down to allow the people to see the palace but he did not care and just kept going. The recorded "explanations" keep advertising other things the company offers. We only paid €7 for the tour, as we really wanted to go on the boat tour (which was good and worth while) and let them talk us into the combination ticket, so it was not so much the money but the time we felt we wasted since we only had a short time in Amsterdam. The hop on hop off bus also stops at the diamond factory so just go on the boat tour and skip all of the bus tours. Amsterdam is not big enough to make a bustour worthwhile and they really rip you off.
In addition, the busses were cramped and the earsphones very cheap and did not even last throughout the whole tour.
