Sebastian made our two and a half hour walking tour of old Amsterdam both very entertaining and informative. Covering the history of the Red Light district, the evolution of Amsterdam as the global centre of world trade in the 16th century, its transition from a republic to a monarchy, the tragedy of the Nazi occupation and its enlightened and effective attitude to drug control, he stitched these diverse items together with humorous personal anecdotes and insightful commentary on the underlying social and cultural mores of the Dutch people. He also shepherded across the city without being run down by the thousands of high velocity and unflinching cyclists. A great introduction to an immensely attractive city.
