Still a nice place, after a lot of years. Food is reliably good and well presented, though a bit on the mild side (catering to Dutch tastes, probably) if you like your Indonesian food spicy. Atmosphere is nice and quiet, good for a family outing.

If you like good food from Indonesia; don't miss this restaurant. There's a lot to do and see in Alkmaar. In summertime there is a cheesmarket and nice shops are open all year round (exept on sunday).

At Deli you can enjoy one of the famous dishes that came from the period that Indonesia was a colony of the Netherlands. It is called rijsttafel and consists of a bowl of rice with a lot of small dishes with various kinds of meats, vegetables, sauces and sambals.
There are only a few restaurants in the Netherlands that match the real Indonesian taste. Deli in the attractive old center of Alkmaar is one of them and for that reason we visit the place regularly. We only would like the dishes to be more spicy, but you can adjust that by adding some sambal.
The owner is a true host and the service is correct.

Greeted with a great big welcoming smile by Hon the patron. who later explained the intricasies of a traditional Reis Tafel. soon almost thirty dishes arrives. My plate with rice in the middle surrounded by a spponful of each of the dishes looked like a work of art. Every mouthful was different and eache more mouth watering than the previous. Wonderful experience and certainly got us hooked to Indonesian food.

What a wonderful experience we had at this exquisite restaurant. Hon is the most hospitable owner, welcoming us with a smile and was more than accommodating in finding us a great table. His enthusiastic explanations of the gourmet delights and how to eat them led to us having the most wonderful reistafel enjoyed by all the family. Great restaurant, great food, great service. A very memorable night. Thank you. We'll be back!
