There is so much to see and so many animals to touch in this Oliemeulen attraction, that two fearless young kids really are a handful. At least, they were to me. A real snake around your neck or a huge spider in your hand is an experience of a lifetime. And, surprising, it didn't keep them awake at night.

I love looking at animals, and let me tell you, there are fewer places to better do this then the Oliemeulen in Tilburg. They have a range of beasts from small cats such as the ocelot, birds of prey and some adorable armadillos (not to mention the plethora of reptiles).

The only issue with the Oliemeulen, and I know I'm going to sound like a typical British tourist, is that they don't have any info on the animals in english. In fact, they don't have any info on the animals in any other language apart from dutch. From the perspective of a tourist this is fairly frustrating, because you go to places such as the Oliemeulen to learn about the animals as well as gawk at them. If the Oliemeulen hired a translator for a couple of weeks and created some plaques in other languages (english, french, spanish, german and mandarin... those are the typical ones) I think that would do this place a world of good.

Nevertheless I would reccomend going because these creatures are fascinating to look at, and you can see that the animals are well looked after, which is not always the case in the UK (cough cough London Zoo). It is an especially good place for young ones who are still blown away by the sight of a lizard.

You think that you are in the Bush but still you are in the citycentre. Very Nice places for the animals espacially on the attick. Children are allowed to feel a big spider on their hands and a snack on their neck. Cool show with birds outside.

Sort a farm house in the city, very nice located. A little bit dark inside, but that is mainly because the animals that live there. The attendance was very friendly! the people work there with care and tender with the different animals. Some are really rare, very nice to see ! they are nearby so you can close appreciate it. It is a safe place. They don't have to much options to eat but the coffee and the warm chocolade are tasty! Prices are moderate, it is really nice especially if you have kids, they have a lot of activities for them.

If you're interested in reptiles and small animals and you are close by, you should really have a look. It's a small place, but they manage to make it cosy instead of a quick run-through. Kids will have a better time than mom and dad.
