My wife and I chose to stay for one night during a short tour in Holland and Belgium. We found the rooms bright and clean and the staff so helpfull they restored our belief in good service. Pity our stay could not have been longer,

The City Hotel in Tilburg is located smack in the middle of town. It is by the central square with easy access to shops and restaurants. It is not very far from the train station either so for Tilburg this as good as it gets with regards to location.

From the outside the hotel looks dull and boring. The feeling is the same in the lobby that has definitely seen better days. The rooms do however have a slightly more modern feel with fairly sleek furniture in dark wood. There is also a flat screen TV and the bathroom is also very fresh and appears new.

There are however a few things which still has a budget feel to it. One such thing is the lack of a/c in the rooms. In winter time it was ok but in summer the small fan in the room is probably not sufficient. The soap and shampoo provided felt very cheap and poor quality so suggest bringing your own. Very positive was however the fact that it was possible to get really hot water with good water pressure.

A very annoying thing was the fact that they charge €16 for use of the Internet for one day. It is outrageously expensive for something that nowadays should be included without cost.

The breakfast at the hotel was fairly simple and not a great selection but still better than expected at such a small hotel. There was a range of some bread, yogurt and egg and bacon as well as coffee/tea and some juice.

Noisy due to how central it's located. Rooms very clean and modern but missed tea/coffee making facilities. Wished I'd also taken my own hairdryer. Would go back.

This hotel cannot be beaten for location, right in the centre within walking distance of the train station, pubs and restaurants and shops. Positives are: clean rooms, recently renovated, good shower, plasma tv, very friendly and helpful staff; negatives are: quite pricey although to be fair similar to other hotels in the centre and always full, extremely cold in winter due to no heating in the bedroom- i had to put a jumper on in bed, no tea/coffee facilities in the room, very noisy club next door playing thumping music till 2am. I would use this hotel again but only in summer- its not acceptable to have no heating in winter. Breakfast was included but pretty basic- I've had better and some mornings we couldnt be bothered to get out of bed to get it.

20/30 years ago it was a great hotel! Now it really needs a renovations. Everything is old, things are broken. Rooms are of average size, quite clean. Breakfast is very simple, but will do.
Biggest downside is the price. 95 euro's for a double room. Considering the accomodation this is just too much.

Upside: right in the middle of the centre
