“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Stayed here on a business trip, very large restaurant on site, good bar and lively atmosphere. The only hassle was finding the reception, seemed to have go on the 'other' side of the hotel, where there is a modest entrance and access but no clear signage to point the way, other than that would stay again as it packed everything including free wifi, which is an absolute must these days.

Room Tip: Watch out for the signs to reception, it's accessed from both sides of the car park, but signage...

This hotel has seen better days. It's tired and worn, and it looks like the owners have given up. The fridge had been removed from my room (although the cupboard for it was still there). The ice-maker had been removed. However, as a budget hotel, it is good.

Rooms: Large size
- Desk: Yes
- TV: LCD - but none of the English channels were working.
- Wifi: Yes (free)
- Bedside powerpoint: Yes
- Fridge: Removed
- Free bottled water: No
- Balcony: No (although, other rooms appeared to have one).
- No air conditioner (it was summer, and the rooms were overly warm and stuffy)

Bathrooms: Good. White tiles.
- Lighting over mirror: OK - some shadows on face
- Bathtub: Yes
- Scales: No
- Shampoos: Yes (no conditioner)

Pool:
None?

Breakfast: Very good - broad range.

Service: Good

Location: Far from the station - need a taxi.

I had a meeting there, hotel is great, food is fantastic, meeting facilities are OK, service is very professional. The only drawback is that the hotel is located on the border of Eindhoven.
This is beneficious if you are organizing an event & you need to ensure all participants will be present, but not nice for the participants if they need to go shopping or clubbing. Buffet breakfast is a great healthy one.

Room Tip: If you do not enjoy walking in corridors ask for a room close to reception

This is an odd one. Some good, some bad. Maybe the bad won't matter to you. In that case ignore it.

The room was fine, nothing extraordinary, but OK. The location is a little far from the city, so you have a choice of being stuck, taking a very long walk or a taxi or renting one of their bikes.

This is the first time I have ever had the following experience: The one ice machine for what seemed like the whole hotel was broken so I called to have a bucket of ice sent up. A few minutes later I received a call saying they could not deliver ice to the rooms, that I should go to the bar and ask for it myself. I did, and was told they didn't have any ice buckets. So I settled on a couple of beer glasses filled with ice, and I chilled my wine by putting the ice into the wine rather than the other way around.

Also, the restaurants in the hotel are OK but not all that great, and pretty expensive, so a taxi or bike ride into town is the only way to deal with meals.

Next time I will stay in town.

Room Tip: Tower rooms have a good view of the woods that surround the hotel.

This hotel and conference centre is ideal for sports enthusiasts who are participating in sports events held in the sports park adjacent to the hotel. As well, the area is green and there is a lovely park around a boarding school.

For the hotel itself it has several restaurants, a casino, and a conference centre is being built.

The rooms and beds are comfortable. The restaurants include a buffet restaurant and two others. The bar includes an outside sitting area surrounded by glass, serving as a nice location to meet friends. The fitness room is adequate.

Pets are welcome at a small charge.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground level room if you want to sit outside or you have a pet.

All was very good, the new catering arrangements caused consternation when booking but "Het Buffet" turned out to be first class, excellent food, very attentive staff, and our deal included FREE DRINKS.

Room Tip: The tower has better rooms but I prefer the more traditional rooms in the old part of the hotel. Alt...

On my business trip from Austria to UK I was booked by my company into the Van Der Valk Eindhoven Hotel. Stayed in the same chain in Breukelen before I knew that this will be a good choice.

One important point upfront. The bathroom floors are very slippery in this hotel. I never had a problem before but I actually slipped twice here one time quite serious falling on the floor while coming out of the high step shower. This could have resulted in even more serious damage than the 3 broken finger nails and some bruises...

What I liked
- Two restaurants with Ok pricing
- Nice large rooms
- Nice large beds and a quiet setup
- Increased security with key card necessary to access rooms
- Fast and free internet
- Really great breakfast with a large selection of food choices (probably one of the best ones I had since long time)
- Large gated parking

What I did not like
- bathroom security (see above)
- despite large parking area it's hard to find a place
- some construction currently going on (but not a night)
- long check-in and check-out... only two people trying to handle a lot of guests
- small sitting area outside of the bar - always crowded
- with 129 EUR per night incl. breakfast rather expensive for the service provided
- large walking distances between the restaurant and the rooms
- no soap in the bathroom (do Dutch people not wash their hands??)

After all I probably would stay again.
