“If you enjoy stained glass, this is for you!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Vaulted ceilings, immense stained glass windows--all in remarkable shape. There was a special exhibit surrounded with masses of flowers and candles on the day we visited. There is no charge to visit the church, but the atmosphere is more that of a tourist attraction rather than a place of worship. There were lines of people waiting to visit the tower.

“Breathtaking, both outside as inside!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Although I am not religious, I love huge churches because of the impressive architecture, the wonderful interior and the relaxed atmosphere. So I enjoyed the Vatican in Rome, the Notre Dame in Paris and the cathedral in Seville. Today it was a bit smaller scale with the St. John's cathedral (close to the recommended Jeroen Bosch Art Center) but both outside as inside, this is a wonderful and impressive church. Especially inside: the stained glass, the huge columns, the wooden interior, the church organ, the coloured painting on the top of the ceiling and the Jeroen Bosch painting. An older aged volunteer told us about the history of the church and the church organ (made out of special seasoned wood), very interesting. Highly recommended!

“Impressive”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

We didn't take much time to visit, but we will certainly be back next time we're in Den Bosch. The cathedral is massive and deserves a lot of attention. But I guess it should be visited guide in hand to find out about the knots and bolts.

“Angel visit”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

This church is most impressive, and it was nice to see the modern day angel with her jeans and mobile phone sculpted up in the high eaves of the buiding. Well worth a visit

“Is this the most wonderful cathedral in Holland?”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

YES~! Erected in 1220, this 73 metre tall Gothic structure takes your breath away. Sadly, acid rain, has started to damage this masterpiece but the Dutch are working hard to save it. In true quirky Dutch style, one of the angel statues has been added holding a mobile phone to its ear apparently to signify having a direct line to God! They really are a fun, lighthearted culture at times who can really laugh at themselves - although the hard-liner preservationists are very upset with this new statue.
