We needed a decent but not too expensive hotel, for a quick stopover. The Campanile was perfect for this. We checked in rather late and checked out early morning. The guy at the front desk was very friendly, the room was perfect for what we needed. Warom room, clean, comfortable bed, nice bathroom and good tv. What else can you need. We didn't take breakfast, so no idea how that would have turned out. The room itself is not very big, but it's more spacious than a lot of the more expensive hotels I stayed in. The rooms are in a block a next to the main building. It gives you a bit of an American motel feeling, which I liked, but that's personal. There was a shutter outside of the window, which you could let down, this gave me safe feeling and it blocked out all the light. It's conveniently located next to the freeway.

We stayed here last night on the way to a trade show in a Germany having driven from England. Don't be put off by apperance as it smacks off a truckers caff but for dinner we had an excellent steak and chips and nothing was too much trouble and an excellent house white to accompany our meal.

The rooms were immaculate and very clean , the linen had been ironed and the bed was comfy. The staff were lovely and worked hard to run not only reception but the bar and eating area too. Can highly recommend , the Ritz it isn't but it did the job.

Campanile hotels are usually situated out of town, in a commercial or industrial area, close to a major road or motorway. This one is no exception, convenient for the motorway but not for sightseeing in Venlo, which was fine for us.
The rooms are standard - fairly small with a large bed (comfortable). Kettle & paper cups provided.
There is also a bath with shower over, uncommon these days.
The staff were friendly and efficient.

The steak we had in the restaurant was one of the best I've ever had, beautifully cooked.

We stayed for 3 nights. It is a very small hotel with all the bedrooms in a block separate to the main reception/dining room/bar. The staff were nice and helpful on the Friday/Saturday serving outside in yhw garden area. Sunday a different girl on and wouldn't serve drinks outside and only the lunch mrnu for something to eat. So we had to get a taxi into venlo. Arriving back at just gone midnight the main reception building was all locked up with no one around. No security or anyone around if there was a problem in the night.
At check out the next morning the same miserable girl was back. I booked 2 rooms through booking.com 11 months in advance big mistake it cost us 210 euros more than booking direct with them.

I chose this hotel for its convenience as it’s just off the motorway, less than a minute drive yet far enough off to avoid the noise/disturbance. I arrived slightly before the advertised check-in time but this wasn’t a problem and I got my room. The room was slightly on the small side but perfectly adequate for my needs. The bath was quite small too but I prefer a shower anyway and the pressure, temperature etc was all very good. The room was fitted with roller shutters rather than curtains which was good as it shut out all the light and any noise giving me a very good nights sleep.

It was nice to have a TV with so many English channels (actually only 2 but as most of the Dutch channels are in English with subtitles there was loads to entertain me).

There’s not much within walking distance but the city centre is fairly close so it’s not too isolated, there’s also a bar and restaurant on site but I didn’t use them.

I needed to leave at 5 in the morning but when I went to check-out the reception area was all locked up (separate building to the rooms), so all I could do was to post my key-card in the letter box – fortunately I didn’t have any extras to pay otherwise it would have been awkward, it might have mentioned this in the small print when booking but who really reads all of that!!

Room Tip: If they're all the same as it appears just take whatever you're given.

Does exactly what it says on the tin - clean rooms with a basic comforts including a water cooker (!) to make tea and coffee, an excellent shower with good water power. Be aware that reception closes at 11pm - so if you intend to arrive late at night make sure you check in before hand. We got a very good deal via Booking.com - if you need to be in this area make sure you compare prices for both Van de Valk and Campanile - they are within spitting distance of each other and we have stayed in both hotels over the years. While van der Valk is a bit more up-market, Campanile is perfectly fien as well so I'd recommend choosing with your wallet.
