“great location”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

Maastricht is not a cheap city for hotel options, so we were delighted to get a place on the Vrijthof for a similar price to places much further out. On the plus side, you can walk everywhere and the rooms and bathroom are clean and modern. However on the minus side, the rooms are basic enough and the hotel facilities are very limited. We had a 3 bed loft room, so awkward layout and slanted roofs (although we did have a great view out on the square). The lack of breakfast or common area is a small minus, but given that there are tons of options within 5mins walk, this wasn't a problem. Overall, you can find cheaper or more comfy hotels, but not a bad option.

No reception so we were dealt with at the Hotel bar. After paying in full we were shown to our room. The stairs were extremely steep and there is no lift available. Room was very small, but looked clean enough. After fully unpacking , a woman came to our room and asked if we would swap rooms with a woman who had requested a first floor room. We were on a tight time schedule but my husband had a look at the other room nonetheless. We were not happy to swap rooms and we were running late, which we explained to the staff. As we were leaving the hotel through the main doors the owner ( Anna ) of the Hotel approached us in a very aggressive manner , shouting and instructing us that we were to leave the Hotel immediately if we would not swap our room. She was unprofessional and rude in expressing herself and she was quite intimidating. We immediately decided to leave the hotel and stayed in Amrath Hotel Du Casque instead - this hotel was incredible and the staff were extremely friendly. Also the hotel was a 5 minute walk from Annas and it was cheaper ( also had a lift ). Needless to stay i would strongly recommend people to steer clear of this awful establishment,

Room Tip: Avoid annas at all costs

Location is great, but: 3 floors, no lift. Room 7 nice and clean, but no bedside table, no phone to ring a non existent reception, hiddious coffee making maching. Nice TV with no foreign stations and although it is a restaurant, no breakfast served. you are referred to next door, which does not open till 10 No double glazing, so when cars drive on the cobble stones, you might as well be in a train station. (from 05.30 by the way) Perhaps they know how to run a restaurant, but certainly not a hotel. At 0800 there was no one presaent (you pay upon arrival) and had to throw the key in the letterbox.

Room Tip: Don't think there are any

Location is great. But with that, everything positive about the hotel is said.
A bad (sewer) smell in the café downstairs where we had to check in, no reception desk (the bar of the café), the staff (one person) first finished a phone conversation which still took about 5 minutes without any excuses afterwards.
Bad sewer smell continued in the hallway and bathroom.
No privacy in bathroom (glass door), tiny boxy room, single glass windows so loads of noise.
Price/quality completely out of sync (theme room).
Maybe other rooms are nicer (at least some of the pictures look better, larger but then again...) but room 3 is below standards.
