Review of TerWorm Castle
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 26, 2017
They had me at the moat. We are very sophisticated travelers, but as an American, I had not ever had the opportunity to stay in a real castle-- rich amazing manor houses, and estates, yes, but the castle with a moat? Nice. Our Suite was wonderful, luxurious, and larger than most New York apartments. The staff was delightful and the dinner at the restaurant was amazing. We took the time to walk around the grounds and explored further on our morning runs. The health center (at an adjacent property 500 meters away) was ok, but nothing special. Certainly not up to the rest of the property's elegance. However, with well over 12 K of trails and paths through the Terworm who need gym? We had some lovely walks and runs through he country side. Beautiful area. Well worth the visit, hopefully we can get back.

Room Tip: They all seem to be great, each one is unique, whether you are in the main castle or the side...

My wife and I could not have picked a better location to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It starts with the helpful and very friendly staff and they stay so till the very end 2 days later.
The Jr. Suite is excellent, roomy and it even features a small private terrace.
The beautiful terrace next to the castle allowed our company of 28 of sufficient privacy and all the other guests and diners.
During the private dinner in the Mecklenburg room we enjoyed an excellent 4 course dinner, with some unexpected fusion touches. All accompanied with plenty of well choose wines. Oh and the sparkling wine is a Dutch one, yes and it is lovely.

Breakfast buffet, we've enjoyed it 2 times was excellent in choice and in a nice room.

I can not express enough the friendliness of all staff. Be them behind the reception desk, the bar, the terrace, the restaurant and even the maids all very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the event manager for delivering as promised.

Hope to come soon, again. But then just for 2.😁

Let's put this in perspective. We regularly stay in high-end places all around the world (Four Seasons, Beverly hills, Thailand). I am not boasting, just putting this review in context.

Our stay in Kasteel TerWorm ranks very highly on our list. Sure it is not a place you go to for a fancy beach holiday, but if you need a hotel anywhere in or near Heerlen then this is the place to be.

Prices are competitive enough, and the rooms are amazing. It did help that we were staying in the Gatekeeper suite, but other rooms looked good as well.

Nice bar, nice breakfast, nice environment. Overall highly recommended.

(BTW, GPS Routing to the Castle's address doesn't work, use TerWorm 10, which brings you to the gate)

Due to a large bush totally covering the name of the castel and large trees, we drove right passed, eventually turned around and found it. Dont drag your heavy suitcase up the steps to reception only to carry it back down, as all the rooms are off the courtyard.
The rooms are quite large, very clean and a great comfy bed. We had comedy moments with the kettle and the coffe maching, having to be plugged in on the floor as both leads were too short. Had 3 great nights sleep, very quiet hotel. Dinner was a bit pricey as you would expect. We felt €19 each for breakfast rather expensive so we opted for a very nice cafe about 1mile away. On our last morning we did splash out on the breakfast, very nice well prepared with a lot of choice, spoilt by all the cooked food being lukewarm.
The staff were very helpful all speaking English.
We would go again as the negatives were not that much of a problem.

We just stayed here for 2 nights and i must say, delightful! My dietry wishes were met promptly and the dinners we had were really tasty. The variations of gin and tonic made us happy and the rooms are super spacious. Staff is very friendly and gave us a warm and welcome feeling. Will definetely recommend!

I had to travel up to the Netherlands for business and was looking for a location close to where I needed to be. Found this gem on TripAdvisor and am very happy that I did so. Beautiful garden, nice grounds to wander around, nice room and large shower. The Kasteel met all my needs and then went above those. Excellent staff and a very nice restaurant. My room overlooked the courtyard with the fountain. Very comfortable bed and good wifi. I just wish my trip would have been longer.
