Publicized as a "farm, mini-castle", this B&B was a wonderful introduction for our family to the Netherlands. In light of the price, we hadn't expected much from the apartment we booked. We couldn't have been more thrilled with the antique furnished living room/bedroom, separate kitchen (with a rollaway bed for our daughter), and modern bathroom. Having deposited our bags, we set off to meet all the furry friends of the farm, which was really a horse riding stables. Between the chickens, pig, sheep, and many horses and ponies - my animal loving daughter was in 7th heaven. She couldn't have felt more like a princess then the next morning as we sat in the breakfast room downstairs, accompanied by classic music, and delving into a Dutch breakfast buffet. Heerlen is close to Maastricht (medieval town bordering Belgium) and to Valkenburg (excellent medieval quaint walking town). There was so much to do in the area for children and for sightseeing that we only touched the surface and would love to go back again.
