“basic & decent”

For 64 euro's, (= Hotdeal, two persons) this is what you get: easy and friendly check-in, small room, clean and comfortable bed, no bedside tables, functional shower-and-toilet cubicle, enough towels. The room is neat and tidy and has a small flatscreen. A good place to stay and for a very reasonable price. Free wifi was included!
For a decent breakfast (optional, 11,50 euro) you find yourself in the restaurant area of the hotel, overlooking the socalled Zuiderdiep which offers a lot: restaurants, bars, cinema, shops. After checking out we could leave the luggage behind locked doors for the entire day, no charge. This hotel offers the real (basic) deal for your money.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front are likely to get more trafficnoise than the ones in the back.

This hotel is the perfect example of how to provide everything a traveler needs at a reasonable price. The room was small, but very clean with a comfortable bed. While the bathroom was tiny, it had a strong, hot shower and clean towels. I asked for a room off the main street that runs in front of the hotel and it was very quiet. The breakfast, not included in the rate, was good. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, arranging for a taxi to the train station and finding the earmuffs I'd lost. This is a no frills hotel, so there is no coffee/hot water kettle in the room or any fancy toiletries. But, I'll take the comfort and service at this price over the frills at a much higher price any day.

I stayed here for a few days in Groningen, which is a delightful city by the way. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from the station and is well placed for bars and restaurants.

I booked it as a budget stay and was pleasantly surprised by the foyer, restaurant and bar area which seem to belong to a much grander hotel.

The staff were helpful and friendly on arrival. I had booked a budget plus room, which had free internet. This is wired not wifi which was a little disappointing, but the hotel supplied a cable for my laptop.

The room on the 3rd floor was small but very tidy, fresh and in no way tired, I think that they must have recently been refurbished. I had a shower, but no bath.

I found the room was perfect, not huge but great for a few days. the shower was hot and powerful which is always a plus. The bed was clean an comfortable. There was no, or little noise from the street.

I needed an iron and board which was collectable from reception. The iron was brand new but sadly a dry iron, which is disappointing and the board was a mini one. But to be honest other than the wifi this was my only gripe.

I would definitely use this hotel again.

Room Tip: had a room on 3rd floor at the back, seemed nice and quiet.

I was working at the university, i could get a bus from the university to the front door of the hotel. It is also a short walk into the center of the town.

The hotel was very nice, it had a restaurant attached to it and a nice bar too. the room was clean and very comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was also very good. I had a roll with bacon and scrambled egg. They had a selection of breads, fruits etc..

We were guests here on new years evening '11/'12 and were impressed by the hospitality of the staff. It was a busy evening, with lots of guest arriving and even an accident that happened on the hotel's doorstep.

Nevertheless the front-desk employee was calm and very friendly. We got one of the hotel's bikes free of any charge and enjoyed a simple but tastfull meal (although the kitchen was actually already closed).

Location is very close to the city center, parking for 10 euros a night is possible at the back. Our room was small but clean and had a good price for the quality offered. Perfect hotel for travellers with no need for unnecessary luxury and that appreciate good service.

Was a bit put off by the prior comments but we found the hotel to be just what we needed. We stayed four nights (2xcouples) and had a great time. The hotel is walking distance from town which was very convenient. Our Rooms were in the new part of the hotel and were perfect - very large double, TV, Bathroom and the usual desk/chair arrangement. The hotel staff were very friendly and were on hand at all times to help. The parking was great and on one night we ate at the restaurant where we found the food to be brilliant (local dishes alongside mainstream choices). The breakfast included hot and cold choices with staff ensuring that there was plenty available (even up until the 11 o'clock finish time). The bar staff were brilliant and helped us play the 'billiards' game that was free to use. We would absolutely recommend the hotel and would definately go back.

Room Tip: Request to be in the new area - we stayed on the 4th floor and our rooms were great.
