OK, Groningen, like many student towns, isn't blessed with that many great places to eat (nor is Oxford!)... but we went here because a) it's close to my son's flat b) we didn't have much time and c) it is pretty well recommended... So... The big pluses (and they are the main things) are that the owner is a really nice guy - he pays attention to his customers, and is happy to make you feel really welcome... and his food, if simple, is very well prepared and very tasty... so that's all good - but it was a bit (a lot) annoying to have to charge off to the main square to find some cash at the ABN machine cos' he hasn't got a pin-machine!!! OK, I know times are tough, but get real - everyone EVERYONE who is running a business in NL has a pin-machine! I've lived here for 4 years and accept that not every place likes credit cards, but bank card - always!!!! So, if you can sort this out, you will be a really good place for a meal - but until you do, no tips - I don't expect to have to do a 400m round trip to pay for dinner!!!!
