I have stayed here before and enjoyed the stay. The location is fantastic, right in the city center. This time though the room I was given was in the back facing the alleyway with deliveries for the kitchen beginnng at 6:30am. Kind of noisy! They provide earplugs with a note that the city is "lively". Also, one of my two towels included a large ball of hair which was stuck to it. I asked to be moved away from the alley and they moved me to the 3rd floor. Same room just higher, although it was quieter. Both rooms seemed a bit run down. When Ironing my shirt my sleeve happened to touch the floor and came back covered in dust! I think they need to pay more attention to housekeeping. Also, 17 Euro for a skimpy continental breakfast is a bit much.

The street and location are great, the lobby/lounge lovely. Rooms are awful, noisy, dark, bathrooms a bit grubby. Very weak wifi signal and no housekeeping during a 2 day stay with highly inflated 400 euro price tag for 2 nights. If you have a booking we would definitely recommend not staying in a ground floor room. Not sure how they got a 4 star rating as it's far from it. There must be better options in Groningen which itself is a lovely place to visit.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor, close to reception.

Oude Boteringestraat has too many delights to mention, but if chocolate, charming buildings, cool shops, great restaurants, and coffee shops appeal to you, then you may agree that this street has everything...including a delightful boutique hotel called De Ville. The staff, especially Rik, were kind and helpful, and when I wanted a view of the courtyard, switched rooms for me without hesitation. The bar is cosy and I love the atrium look and feel. I especially liked the super big bathtub and the heated towel rack--perfect after a rainy day walk. The decor was smart and stylish and arty, and overall a very nice experience.

Room Tip: ask for a courtyard view, and enjoy the bells from the church down the street

I arrived very late at this place and was met by very helpful staff. All the staff here are pleasant and helpful. The downstairs is inviting and comfortable. The rooms are relatively small but net and well maintained.
It is central with lots of good bars and restaurants available in this student town.

The breakfast is a complete dissappointment with a very limited choice from their serve-yourself buffet - certainly not up to the standard the star rating would suggest.
I was not picking up the bill but at there prices if I were I would most likely look elsewhere.

Welcoming and cozy hotel in the center of Groningen. My room on the 3rd floor was a bit disappointing as compared to the trendy interior downstairs. The room was rather small and there is only a small table to work. The internet is free. A nice gesture is that everywhere in the hotel you can pick up home interior magazines for reading. The lounge is very cozy in a mixture of old and modern design. Park your car in the underground garage at the Ossenmarkt and you are a 5 minutes walk from your hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly. A pleasant breakfast.

What too say about this hotel. I was booked here for 1 night due to some customers I had to visit around the city of Groningen. The hotel lobby and breakfast area / patio have been renovated but the rooms only have had a small redecoration. I was first put into a topfloor room which was really small it had a bed with 2 pillows, but you must love your companion very much to wake up happy the next morning. As the hotel was not full I asked for a bigger room, which they gave me as a free upgrade. This room was big, with a kingsize bed ( actually 2 beds put together) a sofa, a desk a bathroom and a seperate dressing room / closet. Sadly it had no airco and my gosh it was hot in the room. There was an awkward thing, in the entrance before you get into the bedroom, there is no lightswitch, but a movement sensor, good idea, the light switches on when you enter the room. But it also switches on when you sneek into the bathroom at night, making the complete bedroom a light a a sunny day. The light switches off automatically, but only after some 10 minutes...... That really bothered me. A plus was the free wifi. Breakfast was really good with a wide selection of everything you can wish for.
