An amazing B&B with massive rooms, unique decor and a very friendly welcome. Really feels like another world. I stayed one night but would happily go back and spend a few days just relaxing. A wonderful place to sit and watch the world go by on the river.

Operated by a friendly host, Drijfpaleis has a real atmosphere about it. Decor is OTT but that is exactly what gives this place it's charm. As soon as you arrive, there is something Gaudi-esque about the arrival area. The B&B itself, is a boat that's been outfitted to look like a Tuscan Villa.
Each room has a slightly different theme, for example Venice, and Florence.
The Venice room was also surprisingly well equipped: laptop, wifi, coffee machine, kettle, Tv, DVD player, and a couple of channels available. There are also guide books, maps, flyers, DVD's, books and games available.
Breakfast is fantastic: Warm bread rolls, croissants, 2 cheeses, fruit, jams, hard boiled eggs, glass of orange juice, and a pot of tea.
The upstairs contains a couple of rooms, a small kitchen with a honesty bar and lovely outside deck with lounge chairs. Really great!
Looking for something different and fun? Definetely try this!

We chose to stay in Arnhem to access Floriade at Venlo and I chanced upon this B&B on Trip Advisor. Staying on a houseboat seemed different and this place looked quirky. We were not disappointed.

We stayed in the so-called Honeymoon Suite - not our honeymoon but booked because it was slightly bigger than the other rooms and had it's own deck. The room was very big and had everything we needed. It might have been nice to have had a comfy chair but this is really only niggling. The decor was very different but the difference made the experience. Despite cool weather and showers we were able to sit out on the deck some of the time. There was a heater in the room but it was quite small and might make the room a bit chilly in md-winter.

The owner and his partner were extremely friendly and helpful - they really couldn't have done enough for us and there was also plenty of information in the room on nearby restarants etc. It was all very helpful and friendly. One night we bought some salad and wine and stayed in and were able to use the guests' kitchen etc upstairs. It also had an honesty bar which was handy too,

We really liked the breakfasts. These are taken in your room and you can set a time each day for them - this was great. Although our room had a laptop we asked for the wifi access instead which was arranged for our second night.

There was something quite magical about watching the sunset from a boat bring rocked occasionally as a barge or boat sailed past. Probably not the place for the less mobile with lots of steps and the upstairs rooms up a very narrow set of steps. Oh, and there's free parking right next to the B&B - very handy.

Clearlty the B&B is Ruud's passion and there seemed to be further buiilding work going on on the shore line. If you want something quirky and different, yet homely, then go for this place.

This B+B has got loads of character. I love staying in places like this (so much better than your run of the mill hotel).
The rooms are huge with loads of light, comfy beds and hot showers. This was perfect for a young couple like us, and I would definitely recommend it to like people. Ruud is a great host as well-thanks for the stay and I wish it had been for longer

Room Tip: We stayed in the green room, which we really liked. We asked to see the honey moon suite the next day (it was booked when we were there) and it is even bigger with a hanging bed!!!

This Palace is such a gem; a calming oasis right in the city centre (5 mins stroll). With a small fridge and microwave in the shared upstairs' galley, you can be as self-sufficient as you wish. Breakfast is excellent and plenty. And Ruud is the friendliest of hosts.
