We had a great time at The Bull i' t' Thorn. We really liked the atmosphere in the Bar with its Suit of Armour and lots of interesting antiques. The food was excellent, we can recommend the Farmhouse Pie if you are lucky enough to be offered it and the breakfast food was top quality. The Landlord is friendly and has lots of stories to tell. The beers were excellent.
The buildings are hundreds of years old and as such are not pristine, but the experience is well worth it.

Had booked in with another couple for tonight on the Wowcher deal. Did not stay. Our bed looked slept with very stained rumpled sheets. The shower was absolutely minging with thick black mildew all around it. Our friends room, although better, had the decor hanging down and the window in their bathroom was thick with mildew and the blind was covered in black and cobwebs. Had not been cleaned in months. One concern was if this is the state of the rooms that they show their guests, what state is the kitchen in?? The downstairs rooms are very atmospheric and looked promising. Be aware if you plan to spend the night though.

This person arrived here in a really bad mood. She arrived early lunchtime - the pub does not open on Monday lunches - and demanded her room. When I replied, too courteously as it turned out - that the room was only just vacated and had to be cleaned and refreshed, she put the phone down on me. They arrived - in a filthy mood at 2.59pm. I showed them up. They snorted when they walked in the pub and snorted again when they saw the Victorian furniture and decor in the room. Even snorted when I pointed out the beautiful view of the Dales from their three (yes - THREE!!) windows!!. Nothing I could do could please them. They stormed out some ten minutes later, but not before removing all the towels from the bed, and leaving excrement her in the bowl and around the bowl. This shows the sort of people I had to deal with. This is the first review and NOT ONE person found it helpful I rest my case. The "guests" from Hell

Booked this Hotel at a great price for one night with breakfast. We truly were not expecting what we recieved !!! The customer service and welcome was superb when we arrived. We were taken to our room which was very impressive , clean with all the amenaties! As we had left from work a nice hot shower was in order and hot hot it was - infact lovely. Arrive downstairs to a gorgeous open fire , friendly atmosphere and fanastic apply cider to sup alongside a delicious meal.
Bedding and bed all clean and comfy and welcomed a good night sleep. Next morning we went down for our breakfast that was included in the price and couldnt believe the size of it and how delicious it was ! Very very impressed and will be returning to this hotel as beside all the good the owners do, the scenic views around adding on top - superb overall ! Thankyoo to all the staff whom made our stay very nice !
