“Great Find”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2014 via mobile

We found this pub with our friends and decided to stop for a late lunch. The staff were extremely friendly and professional. We saw food being delivered to other clients and because of the portion size decided to have a main course only. The food was delicious, particularly the fish pie and the fish platter. On a less positive note and while I appreciate that this pub is extremely busy it could do with a good deep clean, particularly the wooden tables chairs and glass doors, loo floor too!

“Very good Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2014

Ate here in a big group for Sunday lunch. It was very good as they let us have one side room to ourselves. Dog friendly and child friendly. Good menu, although no Sunday roast option for us veggies - so I had a beef roast and gave the beef to another member of our group! Food was very good. Service friendly. Would visit again.

“Lovely food....big menu.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

Visited here recently for lunch. Nice welcome from the ladies behind the bar. Found a seat in the lounge and ordered our meal. I had a rather large and very tasty venison burger (highly recommended). Very impressed with the service, drinks and food. However, I was going to give them 5 stars, but have marked them down as the chairs in the lounge area by the fire place were rather grubby and the fabric on the seats needs a good clean.

“Fabulous pub”

A friendly welcome, great service, quality beer and lovely home cooked food from an extensive menu... Wish that all pubs followed this formula, one of our favourites

“Love, love, love this place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

We have been to this pub many times for meals and it is always excellent! The portions are huge and it is great value for money. We love this place so much that we ate here twice last week! On our first visit with friends we all opted for the steak which is always a bit of a gamble as we are complete steak snobs! We all ordered it medium and it was absolutely fantastic! Good quality meat, cooked by someone who knows what they are doing! The chips are homemade and piping hot! We had the white chocolate cheesecake for pudding and it was gorgeous! My husband and I visited again later in the week and it was again very good. Only complaint was that I ordered the goats cheese and red onion tart and there was far too much goats cheese - it was very overpowering and I could not finish it. The beer is very good here and I highly recommend the Doom Bar.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. At the weekends though you will have to book a table as it is very, very busy. The bar has been busy every time we have visited and the car park gets full very fast. We intend to visit again this weekend and go walking in the area too and I am very much looking forward to it.
