“Beautiful house, room and location. Perfect break.”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

We stayed at North Down Farm, a beautifully restored farmhouse, for four nights in a double room overlooking the kitchen garden (enjoyed watching the chickens from the window bench). It was a beautiful warm room with a comfy bed and homely features, clean and unfussy. Tessa provides plenty of tea and coffee in the room with some thoughtful extras. There was a small fridge outside the room with fresh milk and room for us to stick a bottle of wine in. Bathroom was perfect, easy to use steaming shower, fluffy towels and soaps provided.
Huge choice for the continental breakfast, all fresh and very good quality. I wanted to try those chicken's eggs so we bought some from the honesty box at the gate and took them home. They were excellent!
The location is great for getting down to the coast for the stunning beaches and into the local towns for shopping and restaurants.
Can't praise Tessa enough for the relaxing atmosphere she provides. Would definitely stay again (may come back when the weather is drier!)

Stayed at North down farm for 4 nights, beautiful renovated farm house with lovely views of the countryside. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious and with the weather being wet and chilly the room was always warm. Breakfast was basic but enough to get you through till lunch. Tessa and her family were friendly and welcoming and had great knowledge of the area. Would highly recommend as the farm is a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire and would love to return in the summer.

Thank you for your review. Feedback is very important to us and I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Pembrokeshire with us at North Down. It would be lovely if you were able to return in the summer when hopefully the weather will be drier and warmer. Thanks again Tessa.

Very pleasant hostess who was a bit too obvious. We felt sometimes as if we were being watched and every time we did anything she appeared. Being a new venture I think she was just trying too hard. We were made to feel welcome.

Wife and I spent 3 nights in North Down Farm B&B as a base to visit St Davids and Tenby and to do a number of the circular coastal walks. We were not disappointed with the B&B nor the sights. Tessa was a nice and helpful hostess and made us feel at home.

Access to the farm with the small country roads could be a little tricky and it is advisable to use the A4139/Sixth Lane way than the A4075/Phillip’s Lane way.

The room we had at the front upstairs was spacious and clean with an ensuite (1 of a pair of identical front rooms). There were a couple of armchairs and a table by the bay window which provided a homely feel. There were a flat screen TV and tea/coffee facility in the room and a small fridge outside the room for storing fresh milk etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower over the bath worked fine. The hot water from the shower was not as hot as the tap’s and could be related to a thermostatic setting issue – Tessa was going to look into that.

Breakfast consisted of a variety of cereals, croissants/pastries, bread/butter/jams, fruits & yogurts, orange juice and tea/coffee. It was plenty good enough for us for the 3 days.

Tessa was flexible enough to let us postpone our original stay by 2 weeks due to bad weather and we have had a lovely time this trip. We managed to cover the whole Stackpole estate and the 2 famous beaches, Marloes peninsular, St Davids and St Davids Head, Lydstep Headland and Tenby. Pembrokeshire coastal sceneries are truly beautiful.

A few personal suggestions to make the B&B even better 1) a standing lamp near the armchairs so that the guests could do a bit of reading and planning for the next day etc. 2) to relocate the kettle from the top of the chest of drawers as it was quite high and could be a bit dangerous. 3) to make WIFI workable in the room rather than just in the lounge/dinner area downstairs (also spoken to Tessa on this).

We would recommend the North Down Farm B&B for a comfortable, relaxing and homely stay with a nice and friendly hostess.

Room Tip: Ask for 1 of the front rooms

We stayed here for one night in the SC cottage part although we were having breakfast provided too. Excellent hospitality from Tess. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, with an amazing shower in a beautiful part of the world. Good plentiful breakfast of cereal, fruit, toast, tea coffee juice and pastries. No rush for us to checkout which was wonderful as we were attending a family funeral locally. This was very much appreciated by us all, thank you Tess. A delightful stay in difficult circumstances.

The bedroom at this property was excellent , with plenty of room, stunning views, great bed and good size bathroom. Breakfast was good with orange juice, fruit, yogurts, cereal, toast tea/coffee etc. No specific time which was great.
We had a little problem finding it from our sat nav, but once we got our bearings it was fine. Tess was very friendly as the rest of her family.
if you want peace and quite this is for you.
