“Nice Kibbutz next to the Dead Sea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2011

Since most hotels in Israel are way too expensive for what they are, staying in a Kibbutz is often a good alternative, although sometimes they are so simple and charmless, it can be very disappointing. This one is a very nice one, cute rooms, nice environment. The only default is that you are not gonna get a nice quiet breakfast, you eat in a noisy "Heder Okhel" at big tables. The food is not too bad however. Overall, it is a very good price for Israel and the place is nice.

We arrived at the Kibbutz and we were surpised by our room, had a kitchenetted but nothing more than a bar fridge a kettle cups and spoons. The room is at the Northern end of the Dead Sea where the water is not as dense but as a guest you get free towels and free beach access to a beach 5 minute drive from the resort. Be warned, this is a good base to the sites in the area but it is far from all but Qumran (right next door). The pool is useless as the hours are not pratical, open in the morning, coolest time in the day to see the sites, afternoon when it is too hot or in need of a nap from the seeing the sites in the day and dinner time.
This Kibbutz could be so much more, the rooms need to be refreshed ( a safe in the room would be nice), the staff need to do a better job to promote the additional products, like dinner at the kibbutz, we had to ask or the restaurants in the area, not many but we did find 3. They should explain how the beach and towel lending works, what the pub is. The breakfast never varied, even something as simple as scrambled eggs one day over fried would have been good. The staff were nice but had to be pushed to get information. I feel like their goal is to get people in rooms and that is all, there is more to a hotel than a bed.
