We stopped for a quick drink and snack. We liked the informal decor and surroundings. We had the Rib and Rooster basket, chips and milkshakes. The food is not bad, but the service is slow. Worth to visit if you do a day trip around the gorge

There was lovely reception @this lovely establishment.

There's a long list of things to do on this side of the world! We enjoyed a couple of activities at the Wild 5 adventures - trial walks, walks over the suspended bridge, site viewing. My partner couldn't convince me enough to go on the Wild swing! Continued on to a near by game reserve, Lake Eland where we took a game drive and saw plenty of wild life + got to experience the adventurous zip line tour at the top of the gorge!

Our check out was extended as we enjoyed full body massages at the hotel, what a splendour!

We definitely coming back to enjoy more activities on offer:)

Bed and breakfast were wonderful. However, they gave us two single beds which was somewhat uncomfortable. Dinner at the restaurant was acceptable. The main attraction of course was the Big Swing, which was without a doubt impeccable! I'd definitely love to go back to the gorge and experience the white river rafting and other activities.

we booked a 2 night stay at the hotel, on arrival the receptionist was extremely helpful, we received our keys and went to our room it hard a pleasant smell nice wood theme very country styled which i like. the manager Evon and all the staff including the waitrons and bar tenders were all very friendly and helpfull. we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and i would surelly be back again. the gorge it self was extremely breath taking my wife had done the big swing which was the high light of the stay i opted to not go since i was affraid of hights but i did go on the suspension bridge which is also very high up especially for someone that is affraid of hights. i would recommend this place any time. The food is very reasonable the T bone steak was awesome.

Room Tip: The ground floor is best much cooler and more space.

Probably the most pleasant stay of our trip. Although we had no water on the last morning due to an Eskom problem that came without any warning, the staff handled the problem very well by bringing coffee and tea from the kitchen, buckets of hot water for washing and flushing, all without asking for and before we could order. The well trained staff was exceptionally friendly and helpfull righthrough our stay. Cyril was a very polite restaurant waitron who works hard for his tip without us ever having to call for him.

It's an average place, reflective of it's 3* status. Bathrooms urgently need to be updated. Room was neat and tidy but not what you expect when you ask for their best suite. Just a tip to the hotel owners, their towels need to be replaced and go with white, it adds a touch of luxury and class to any place. Food was fairly good, had a home-cooked style. Again, I wish that hotels would offer halaal food, don't they realise how it limits their clientele. The restaurant decor needs to be updated, and cleanliness is lacking in particular by the outside eating area. Staff in general were friendly. Loved the relaxed feel of the place. If you have children it's ideal because the place has a play area which should keep them busy. With all the adventure activities it's ideal for those with an adventurous spirit, who could have fun on the wild swing, etc. I would have liked to walk the trail but there are no guides and we too afraid to do it on our own as not much information about the trail is available.

If you like a country hotel, a little old fashioned, but clean and comfortable, then this is a good place to be. Five star it isn't, but when the staff go out of their way to be friendly and efficient, this makes up for a lot. If you look hard, there are things that need to be brushed up or better maintained (e.g. the pool was uninviting but we were there at the coldest driest time of the year).Rooms are big, beds are comfortable and the food was surprisingly good, better than the usual 3-star country fare that we had expected. It's a wooden structure, so there are some noise issues if you want to be picky, but we had no problems, not even kids in the passage; that's to be expected in a family hotel. The gorge is spectacular, and the bird life prolific. Nice cycling, and full marks for evident efforts to deal with invasives like wattle and chromolaena.

Room Tip: Front rooms upstairs have a long shared balcony, Back rooms downstairs have direct access to the poo...
