Owner description: EXPERIENCE THE ULTIMATE RUSH! If you are a thrill seeker looking for the adrenaline-rush of a lifetime, the Wild Gorge Swing in Oribi Gorge will offer you guaranteed over-the-edge excitement! Give in to gravity by hurling yourself off the edge of Lehr’s Falls in what must be the most adrenaline inducing ride of your life! Rated as the world’s highest gorge swing, this activity means stepping (or diving) off the edge of the waterfall and plummeting into the 55-storey deep gorge. The free-fall is awesome and will have you accelerating up to the astounding speed of 120km/hours in 2.3 seconds. Wild 5 is situated on the Oribi Gorge Hotel property, 20 minutes’ drive from Port Shepstone, on the South Coast of KZN. Set amidst world-renowned view sites, Wild 5 Adventures offers a range of extreme (and milder) adventures in a setting of phenomenal natural beauty. These include a 110m abseil, foefie-slide, 85m suspension bridge, white water rafting on the Umzimkhulu, paintball and guided trails (hiking, birding and horseback). The fresh air does wonders for the appetite, so why not round off the perfect day by settling down for a bite to eat at the Oribi Gorge Hotel’s Wild Fig Cafe.

My daughter did her first jump here and I can only say that the staff was very professional and helpfull. Especially Rasta who did a good job of calming my daughter prior to her jump. Lots of adventures for the brave, set in a marvelous setting.

Jumping from a 160m high cliff is the most amazing thing I did so far (and I dived with sharks as well!). It's the greatest place to do it. The view is breathtaking. Waterfall eases the adrenalin rush while you're pulled back up. Just relax and enjoy the ride. You can also walk around, have a picnic, whatever ... This is a place to feel alive! For sure.

You pay R15 (about £1) to view some of the most breathtaking scenery. For the adventurous there is the world's highest gorge swing...really lovely way to spend a couple hours.

The swing was INCREDIBLE!! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Jumping off a 400m high waterfall and swinging suspended above the treeline is very surreal. Would defintely recommend it and do it again myself! R500 for first swing, R250 for the second on the same day as of March 2013. You MUST do the second swing ...

Take a good camera with loads of battery and memory space as well as drinks & snacks for the road. Getting to the restuarant/cafe in the reserve takes much longer than expected when you need to stop to admire the scenery so often. There no other shops in the reserve. Allow for a full day there!

Scenery in the whole area is amazing. Lots of great picnic spots and view points. Loads of hiking routes. Leopard Rock cafe is the best place to eat - incredible view of horse shoe of the gorge, large, yummy portion sizes, great service and hospitality of a family run business.

Only 1h30min drive from Durban. Roads are a bit worse for wear when you turnoff the highway and in the reserve - not so bad that you need a 4x4 but a car with a low suspension would not be suitable. Not well sign posted so use a GPS or mapbook. Make sure you have a good 100km of petrol when you turn off the highway. No fuel stations after the turnoff. Lots of potholes, animals & padstrians on a windy road - would avoid driving the route at night.

One of the most breathtaking gorges in South Africa where ever you go in and around the gorge the views are amazing. The Big Swing (highest in the world) is one of the big attractions, defiantly not for the faint-hearted. There are a number of hiking routes in the gorge again with amazing views. The routes going up the gorge are very steep so unfit people would battle but well worth the effort.
