Description: The Ufford Crown is owned and run by Max Durrant and Polly, with Polly's brother who is the Chef, Will Hardiman. We pride ourselves on our food and wines.Max has managed numerous pubs in London and the Home Counties before taking over The Crown with his vision of creating a 'go to' location with superb service, superb food and superb drink. His brother-in-law Will Hardiman runs the kitchen as Head Chef to create a real 'family team'.You'll always be given a warm welcome in the pub and the dining ranges from full meals to sandwiches and 'light bites'. Come along and 'give us a try', you won't be dissapointed. The large, light and spacious pub has a dining area, plus a bar and 'reading room' to relax in. Booking is advisable on 01394 461030 but we welcome 'walk in' diners and our menu changes daily, using local produce and quality ingredients.

Four of us dined here, the first time since the Crown re-opened under new management. The menu offered some good choices at fair prices, 4 of us enjoyed three courses and with a round of drinks the bill was a shade over £100 which we thought was good considering the quality of the food and level of service. The dining room was a little dark and when the door opened there was quite a blast of cold air (January frosty evening). The table was a good size with plenty of space between tables. Service was attentive without being ott. Nice choice of real ales including an Italian on draught and of course Adnams. Plenty of parking space, well worth a return visit.

Good food with a decent choice on the menu, real ales and a serviceable wine list, what more could you wish for from a local pub?

The steaks here are superb, however ask the waiting staff not to serve the salad on the same plate, as salad on a hot plate does not work....

Food was good if just a tad pricey and drinks sensibly priced. A nice menu with a few unusual choices. I had the roast which was good - meat was not over cooked. Lots of families but personally I think it was more suited to couples - although they were very accommodating

We arrived on Saturday evening but had not booked. Despite being well booked, we were offered a table for the evening if we did not mind ordering before the bookings arrived. Suited us fine. The Ufford Crown has historic atmosphere, is well presented throughout. The choice of food was good and the dishes were appetising and well cooked. The wines were excellent, both the red and white. Staff were all friendly, discreetly attentive and professional. It must be even more welcoming on a cold night, when log fires burn. A must for a repeat visit but we will book next time.

Being quite local, we regularly drop in to the crown and have probably tried most items from the menu and enjoyed everything that they have served.
The food is lovely, and the staff and owners are perfect hosts. Max and Polly have turned The Crown from a pretty underwhelming local boozer into a gastro pub with a growing reputation, which is great to see
