Kronenhalle probably does not need an introduction. As a native of Zurich but having lived abroad for the last 30 years or so, it is always great to come back to my hometown and see that some things never change. Hulda Zumsteg is still omnipresent (if only on a life-size portrait), the menu is by and large the same and the "Reserve de la Patronne" (the Pinot Noir served in open decanters) still tastes the same (albeit at a higher price). If anybody expects nouvelle cuisine, he is probably in the wrong place. Kronenhalle is more a brasserie where Wienerschnitzel, Bratwurst (and on Wednesdays bollito misto) are at the heart of the menu. The atmosphere has still the old homey touch and one can only hope that Kronenhalle never changes.
