The service: absolutely fantastic.
The food: out of this world.
It was perfect in every way. I went every day while I was in Zürich, and by the end of the first day, everyone in their knew me by name already. The waiters, waitresses, and maitre d' were all kind, interesting, and attentive. They are never intrusive, and although you don't see or hear them, they are always there, ready to cater to your every need. The interior itself is spectacular, with many paintings from famous names, artists who lived there free during the war on the condition that they paint something for the lady whose family still owns the restaurant today.
The only thing that might be a turnoff is the price. But I say this: this is hands down the best restaurant in Zürich. The food is expensive, true. But it is incredibly good, all fresh and homemade, and the service is simply amazing. For me personally, I know that there are some things on which it is worth spending good money: delicious, fresh, homemade food; great service and attention; and a beautiful atmosphere.
That's why Kronenhalle is simply the best. There's no other place like it.
Small tip : These guys make the best wiener schnitzel in the world. That is not hyperbole; it's actually true. Must give it a try, with the homemade french fries or rösti on the side. Superb.
