“Fab view of Old Town from Storchen balconied terrace”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

My friends and I were lucky enough to find a table for lunch on a beautiful sunny day on Rotisserie's fabulous balcony without having booked (a rarity) even though the place was packed inside and out yet service was attentive and they really made an effort to put us in the sun as we asked. The balcony of the Rotisserie is suspended above the river Limmat and sports splendid views of Old Town, and the Town Hall suspended over the water, with lovely boats sailing past, the main Zurich Munster (Cathedral) towering in your sights... If you are visiting as a tourist but cannot do too much walking, I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant for not only its spectacular location and views, but also the food. Some of us had fish of the day, which was cooked to perfection, as was traditional Zurich speciality of veal escalopes with mushroom sauce.

If you are visiting on a Saturday, there is a cosy little farmers market right next door on the medieval bridge leading you to Storchen Hotel and the Rotisserie, from early morning till noon(ish). Fruit veg, Italian small goods, flowers, bread markets and other Swiss specialities squeeze in with a Merry-Go-Round. If you do not have time for lunch, do try splendid coffee and croissant on your morning wanderings in the little cafe underneath the balcony of Rotisserie. Tram No.4 in the direction of Altstetten, stops right in front of the aforementioned bridge with the market, so if you buy any goodies you can hop on the tram without having to lug it around. The best stop to get off is Rathaus. I had a drink also at Storchen Bar, but it is not my favorite (Weidder has more ambience in my view).

“A Tradtional House with Excellent Service”
Reviewed May 16, 2012

The Rôtisserie is located on the first floor in the Storchen hotel, right over the river Limmat. The room is actually a traditional Zunftsaal with spacy seating. It is a good place to have conversations over dinner. The service is on a high level, with some fomalism that fits the environment. The cuisine is best described as traditional French with some subtle modern touches.

“Excellent!”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

Superb food in a beautiful restaurant overlooking the river. The terrace tables are sought after so best to request one or go early if you want to sit by the river. Lovely and romantic restaurant suitable for that special occasion.

“Classy bar with a lovely view”
Reviewed September 5, 2011

We didn't stay at the hotel but had drinks at the bar downstairs next to the river on both days we were in Zurich, it was so nice. Stop here for a picturesque drink. The waiters are fast, attentive and polite - we only had 2 drinks one afternoon, but when we returned the next day the waiter remembered our order! The payment system is quick and easy as all waiters carry a machine with them that tracks your order and you can pay by credit card. Complimentary peanuts and pretzel sticks come with all drinks. A large beer was CHF 7 and a glass of white wine was CHF 11, although expensive, less so than the neighbouring bars. Its in the oldest part of Zurich and you will have a view of the Gross Munster, old Zurich and the swans swimming along the beautiful aqua coloured river. Very nice.
