My wife and I were walking around old town in Zurich, when we happened to come across Lindenhofkeller. (Note the restaurant is located adjacent the tallest hill in Zurich on the west side of the river which affords spectacular views of the city, so I would suggest to combine sight-seeing with grabbing a meal at Lindenhofkeller). I recognized the restaurant name as one of the top TripAdvisor rated in Zurich, so we hopped in for lunch. Probably because it was a weekday, we found a table immediately, and the place was not crowded.
We both ordered the house specialty dish of veal (lady's portion) with spinach and potatoes au gratin as a side dish. We also ordered 2 glasses of the Cabernet Sauvignon which was decent and reasonably priced (at 9 CHF per glass.
The veal was accompanied with assorted al dente cooked vegetables such as carrots and bell peppers. Dessert was a creme brûlée, topped with a scoop of ice cream. The combination of creme brûlée and ice cream, made the dessert mediocre. That is the pairing of the 2, just did not work for me.
The service was impeccable, the food cooked to perfection, and the ambiance comfortable.
When in Zurich, I would recommend stopping by Lindenhofkeller, and grabbing a bite to eat in this beautiful dining establishment. You will not be disappointed.
