“Great location, good price, strange layout”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2012

This hotel is centrally located and includes WiFi and breakfast in the price -- a good deal for this very expensive city. The hotel's layout IS strange -- you check in at the bar which is also the breakfast area, then go straight back through what looks like a service door to the elevator/stairs. The rooms are also strangely designed -- the toilet is in an enclosed closet separate from the shower, which has a glass door facing the sleeping area (no privacy), and sink, which is also in the main part of the room outside the shower door. The room has enough space, the beds are okay, and I had no problems with street noise. Walking distance to almost anything. Avoid driving there if possible, since the parking garage the hotel directed me to cost about 40USD/day. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would say good for business or single travelers.

Anywhere you go in Zurich is going to be expensive and this place is no exception. Luckily I have stayed here on business a couple of times.
Rooms are good. Breakfast is good and it is very close to the office / central district.

For a short visit to Zurich, pleasure or business, this hotel will be an excellent choice. Within walking distance from the historical centre; an excellent value for money.

Our arrangement (booked over the net) included free (!) minibar use throughout our stay. Complimentary fresh fruits were in the room every day.

The room was spacious and comfortable, effective A/C, an interesting, mood-related lighting. Impressively renovated inner design with "open view" showers (perfect for couples, but probably inappropriate for businessmen sharing the room :).

Friendly and assistive staff. Modestly sized restaurant, but completely adequate for breakfast. The breakfast was not exquisitely various, but everything was fresh and tasty.

Express check-in and check-out. If I return to Zurich, this will be my hotel of choice.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are more spacious. If you are a smoker, you can ask for a room with a balcony.

This hotel is very well located, although finding the entrance was the first challenge as you have to go into what is the hotel bar. Once in, its then at the bar that you check-in, I understand they are pushed for space but it really is cramped. Check-in itself took forever, I was travelling with a group and all of our details on file were wrong and the process of having your credit card authorised for amenities took forever. All in all I think it probably took a good 15-20 mins to get through 4 people.

On the plus side the staff, were really friendly, beds comfortable and the rooms, clean and spacious. I would recommend if you were getting a good deal, but if you poke your head into the bar at check-in and see a queue, I’d go and find a bar or café for half an hour.

Four star hotel? I don't think so.
OK it is a boutique hotel but the whole concept was terrible. In a 30 sq. meter area you could find all in one (reception, welcome hall, bar, restaurant, breakfast room). Best of all the receptionist could tab you a beer at the same time as checking you in. The room was very basic the idea of a glass shower cabin in the middle of the room was is not the best of interior design.
The breakfast was terrible (the poorest we ever had).

I still can not understand why this hotel is included in the World Hotels 2011-2012.

The only good thing was the location since after a five minute walk you could reach city center.

This hotel is about a 15 min walk from the main station. The area isn't particularly great at night, but the rooms are good quality.

The fittings all looked very nice but be prepared for the glass walled shower located right in the bedroom if you are not travelling alone.

The light switches were overly complicated to control but everything was in good condition.

As a last minute deal I found the price exceptionally good even for an off-peak weekend in Zurich.

Breakfast is the standard European fare - rolls, some meat, juice and tea/coffee, and not particularly extensive. Free wifi was included - just ask at the front desk for a password.
