This is yet another of Zurich's historical sites. It is worth a visit. Sometimes you appreciate a place less when you live there tan when you come to visit. There is a museum but I have never been inside.

It is situated along the Limmat, a major river passing through Zurich and the name means Water Church, I do not know how far back it dates but the location is quite spectacular.

Beautiful church in Zurich, right by the water. There is a crypt in the basement of the church that is really interesting.

We were so fortunate to be in Zurich during the Zuri Fest - which happens only every 3 years. This church is right on the river (Hence Wasserkirche i.e.: water church) and we were able to watch a person on a tight rope and other fun things going on. This photo is of the entrance the person taking pic must of been standing under the roof in a gazebo-ish, open side area. Loved the entire area.

The Wasserkirche is a church built on a small island in the Limmat, situated between the two main churches of medieval Zürich, the Grossmünster and the Fraumünster, at the Limmatquai and the Münsterbrücke. It seems likely that the original building was used for cult meetings. The meetings were centered on a stone now located in the crypt of the church. According to medieval tradition, the site was used for the execution of Saints Felix and Regula. The church was built in the 10th century and modified at various points, culminating in a complete reconstruction that was completed in 1486. Eventually it was secularised, becoming the first public library of Zürich in 1634, when it became a seat of learning that greatly contributed to the foundation of University of Zürich in the 19th century. The length of the visit is about 45 minutes.
