Owner description: Explore Zurich, Switzerland's little big multicultural city. Discover how a small city founded during the Roman times became today's discreet financial empire. Learn about its religious heritage, its episodes of turmoil and about the challenges and major changes Zurich is facing today. We offer a Downtown tour every day at 11am (Paradeplatz, next to UBS) and a Zurich West tour every day at 3pm (in front of Prime Tower).

Local guides offer these free walking tours usually starting at 5 in the evening in various languages although they tend to be in English and it's for you to decide if they deserve a tip at the end, we thought it was worth every penny. In our case the tour lasted nearly 3 hours as we explored many historical areas, noticed things we would have and had missed by ourselves, were shown superb vantage points for views and photos, passed info on worthwhile restaurants and attractions that deserved a visit such as a beautiful church interior, ditto things to not spend time on. we were treated to a free hot chocolate in a traditional coffee house that was clearly a well kept secret for the locals and a bar with a 360 view which we would have missed from the road since it's entrance was just a door on the street. Our guide, a 20 something Zurich banker who liked to do these tours on his day off was charming, engaging, well travelled himself and a delight to spend time with. Highly recommend

It has been a nice walk around the old town of Zurich with interesting comments not only on monuments but also on the local habits. If you wish to have an overview of the city it's the perfect way to do it! The tour gude, Toby, was very friendly and accurate in giing us the information on history and local culture.
Highly reccomended.

Our group of about ten people met up at the UBS building at Paradeplatz. Our tour guide, Jonathan, introduced himself to everyone and then we were promptly on our way.

Here is a listing our some of the places we visited on our tour: Fraumunster, Lindenhof, Rudolf-Brun Brucke, the Central Library, the former Jewish quarter, Vladimir Lenin residence, Peclard Conditorei, and Grossmunster.

Jonathan gave us a lot of information on all of the locations we visited in addition to information on the workers guilds, the Limmat, drinking fountains throughout the city and early to current history of the city of Zurich.

Before the end of our tour we visited the Peclard Conditorei, where the owners offered us a wonderful, complementary sample of hot chocolate and allowed us to relax for a few minutes in their beautiful Red room before we headed back to complete our tour. The sweets, snacks, chocolates and desserts at Peclard looked simply mouthwatering! Our hostess was very nice and efficient and it was nice of Peclard to allow us a few minutes to relax with our group.

We completed our tour back at Paradeplatz where Jonathan thanked us for joining him on the tour.

This is a free and highly recommended tour of the downtown area. (Tour is free, but if you enjoyed the host and the information provided, please tip accordingly).
