“Good food and service, just lacking ambience”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

We weren't in Spain and the description is 'international tapas' so for those looking only for 'Spanish Tapas' look elsewhere.

Service was great, very friendly, food arrived in stages for the two of us, all tasty and of good quality, 7 dishes was more than enough.

Only annoyance was wine by the 1dl (in Switzerland this is a standard wine glass size) but then only having the option to buy 3 or 5dl - it doesn't really allow you to try other wines.

Given that it was a Thursday night around nine, the place was quiet to say the least, there were only 2 other tables in there, this could potentially be the deal-breaker for another visit. Places like Tinto and Bodega Espanola have a better atmosphere though their food is not as good. Loses a point for that.

Dear Geminder, Thanks for your visit to Mucho Gusto and the review you put on TripAdvisor. We would only want to correct one little missunderstanding: we serve over 20 wines by the glass in carrafs of 1dl, 2dl, 3dl, 4dl or 5dl which always allow our guests to try another wine. In fact, there are a lot of guests who try different wines by the glass and enjoy the tasting.

Please also take into account that at present it's spring holidays time with many bank holidays in between: Easter with a long weekend, a bank holiday in Zurich called Sechseläuten (28.4.) with another long weekend and labour day (May 1st) allowing another long weekend, which give a total of 3 long weekends in a row for people from Zurich and elsewhere, who then take the opportunity to go off to the South. You might have noticed that the streets were empty these days. On regular weeks you have to book a table at Mucho Gusto to be sure to get one (especially on Wed / Thu / Fri / Sat).

We really look forward to welcoming you again at Mucho Gusto... con mucho gusto!
Best, Claudia & Ralf

“Great Tapas In Zurich With Great Service!”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

We stopped into Mucho Gusto on a slower Thursday night. We were fortunate enough to be served by Claudia, one of the owners.

While the tapas isn't quite as good as you might find in Madrid, it's still very, very good. Claudia is originally from El Salvador and has lived in Spain. Her and her husband know how to cook and you'll love everything they have.

And the wine...MG has one of the better wine lists in the city and at a reasonable prices for Zurich.

If you're looking for great food, wine and service, MG is the place.

“Amazing service and brilliant food. Well recommended...”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We went on a Saturday evening just before Christmas - its a little hard to find but well worth it when you do.

Some really great tasting tapas dishes - not your typical Spanish style either. Some traditional stuff but great choices coupled with an extensive wine list.

Really chilled atmosphere and the staff made you feel so welcome. We would definitely return when we are next in Zurich.

“Good food, great wine and even friendlier service”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

I went to Mucho Gusto on a Saturday evening and was very pleasantly surprised. It is very centrally located, just behind the Zurich main station, but still in a quiet little side street.
The tapas, some traditional others more creative/international, were delicious and the wine list is a dream of every wine lover. We were there in large group and had ordered many tapas and ended up re-ordering and indulging a bit too much, because it was that good. In addition, the staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved the fact that in the restrooms they provide all kinds of utilities that a woman might need. Nice little extra touch!
Last but not least, the prices are fair (which for Zurich means a lot) and thus I would defintively come back the next time I am in Zurich.

“Good food but atmosphere of a hospital”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Situated in a quiet side street Mucho Gusto is well hidden. After my visit I felt a little disconcerted. Food was ok, some dishes really good, wine list extensive and for Zurich the prices are reasonable but - and this is the big but, this place has nothing to do with a tapas bar laid back atmosphere what I would expect in a tapas bar, secondly the portions are too big for tapas. Maybe for a quick glass after work but certainly I will never go here if I want to enjoy evening for more than 30 minutes.
